[PATCH]: Add support for Intel CPUID Feature mask in Xen
Hi, all Some Latest Intel CPU models (CPUID.1.EAX >= 0x00010674) support cupid mask features. Cpuid feature mask is used to limit the feature flags reported by CPUID.1.EDX:ECX. This small patch adds CPUID feature mask support in XEN by adding boot options in Grub entry as below example: kernel /boot/xen.gz com1=115200,8n1 console=com1 cpuid_mask_ecx = 0xFFFF7FFF cpuid_mask_edx = 0xFFFFFFFC

What about us poor users on Debian squeeze? Or worse, about the upcoming wheezy release? Is there the possibility to backport this fix to s-p-u? Should I ask release.debian.org for a freeze

Bug#737905: closed by Bastian Blank <waldi@debian.org> (Bug#737905: fixed in xen 4.4.0-1)
I don't believe this bug is fixed. The following line appears to carry forward the same problem to xen-4.4: --with-system-seabios=/usr/share/seabios/bios.bin http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-xen/xen.git/tree/debian/rules.real?id=1f422caa31ef3a537a1e41ce68789b6d5536b954#n79 bios.bin does not contain xen support any more (see previous replies on this bug report); bios-256k.bin must be used

Heterogeneous XCP 1.6 pool
Hi, I''ve been trying to use E5520 and X5650 together in an heterogeneous pool without success. I know the combination is not on the official XenServer supported list (http://hcl.xensource.com/CPUPoolsList.aspx), but I thought it would be possible to set the mask anyway and see for myself if the combination works… My problem is that the mask doesn''t "stick" after a

Masking CPU flags via libvirt xml not working?
Hi, Has anyone here managed to get cpu masking working via libvirt? Intention to enable VM migrations between hosts of a different CPU generation. Inside my xml I'm providing the model as well as a list of features to specifically disable, but none of it seems to take any effect. On booting the VM I still see the disabled flags in /proc/cpuinfo <cpu match='exact'

live migration in between different CPU families
Hi, referring to thread: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/xen/users/177385#177385. I have the same thing going on: hypervisors with E5620 Xeon CPUs and hypervisors with E5410 CPUs. Live migrations go wrong when domU''s are not created on the latter and move from the E5410 servers to more recent ones. The rationale being that these CPU''s have less or other capabilities

PHP probes
Hi all, I remember at OSCON 2005 there was talk of adding DTrace probes to PHP (in fact, I have a photo of Bryan and Wes working on it!). Did they ever get into the upstream branch, ''cause I don''t recall seeing a --enable-dtrace (or similar) configuration option when I recently built PHP 5.2.1. If not, is there an ETA?
