samba ldap domain member server with cifs and nfs
Hi samba lists, we have a samba-ldap domain running on a debian squeeze (samba 3.5.6)server (pdc and bdc). I try to configure a domain member server on an other debian squeeze that will serve as cifs and nfs server. My Debian server member use winbind (on ldap) for mapping the users windows sid to the unix uid. The users mapping is write in the the ldap directory : ou=idmap,dc=exemple,dc=com

Lost performance between Samba 3.0.24 and 3.5.8 with high number of concurrent connections
Hi, We are trying upgrade our roaming profile sever from Debian Etch to Debian Squeeze. That's means a upgrade from Samba 3.0.24 to Samba 3.5.8. Our production environment has above 600 concurrent users without problem. After upgrade to Samba 3.5.8, server can't manage above 200 users. With 'smbclient', the output is: Error [user] session setup failed: Call timed out: server did

Classic upgrade and forced password change...
I'm doing some test moving from a NT domain to ad AD domain, using debian jessie samba (4.2) and obviously the 'classicupgrade' procedure. In my setup i use(d) extensively some script to reset password to users. I was (ab)used to have 'smbpasswd' behave differently if executed by root, eg change the password without taking in consideration password policy and check password

Asterisk@Home .6 Problems with outbound calls using Broadvoice
Hello All, I have one X100P card for inbound calls. I use two Broadvoice SIP accounts for all my outbound calls. I'm unable to place calls using BV. Inbound BV calls are ok. Verbosity is at least 3 -- Executing Macro("SIP/201-365c", "dialout-default|XXXXXXX") in new stack -- Executing GotoIf("SIP/201-365c", "1?4") in new stack -- Goto

WInbindd Home DIrectory and Shell
With the switch to using winbindd on Domain Controllers in 4.2, should a getent passwd now be showing the home directory and shell that is in the RFC2307 attributes in the directory like a member server does? I all ways thought that this was a difference between the internal winbind and the external winbindd, but my 4.2 DC looks like it is still using the templates rather than looking the

SIP OPTIONS... Error?
I know over time SIP OPTIONS message handling has changed and I've seen some write ups that seem to indicate that an s extension in the default context is needed now to get them to work. It's probably my error in any case. So, what am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to get the sip ping to work? Bruce Ferrell Just for fun, I created a sip peer called ping at a fixed address

nfs based shared home dir question
Hai..   I need to have my home dirs shared over some of my servers. I did setup a nfs4 kerberos base Debian jessie, samba 4.1.17 and sernet samba 4.1.3 on these servers.   This works, i can mount without problems.   But because verything is created with the windows user tools, the owner/Group is root. Like this   Server:   ls -al drwxrwx---+  2 root  root 4096 Sep  4 13:17

Mount AD home directory and login on Ubuntu Workstations
Hi, In a school environment, I have a server (NEWTON) that acts as AD DC (domain DIDATTICA) and another one (EULER) that acts as File Server (Domain Member of DIDATTICA). Both of them have Ubuntu Server 16.04.5 LTS and Samba 4.9.1. (At the bottom I attached their smb.conf). The users are divided in groups: students, teachers, admin. Each user has a "home directory" where can save his
