a question about using function ssanova of package gss in R version 2.14.1 (2011-12-22)
Dear all,
I am trying to use ssanova of the gss package but met some error that I
cannot figure out the answer for.
Here is the code I am using to explain the problem.
library(gss)
set.seed(5732)
x=(1:100)/100
y=1+3*sin(2*pi*x)+2*(x>0.7)+rnorm(x)
x1=rnorm(100)
x2=rnorm(100)
part.fit=ssanova(y~x, partial=~cbind(x1,x2))
summary(part.fit)
part.fit=ssanova(y~x, partial=~cbind(as.numeric(x1),x2))

ssanova help
Hi all,
I'm using the ssanova function from the gss package to fit smoothing spline
anovas, and am running into some difficulty.
For my data, I have measurements at 2 milisecond intervals for every
observation. Every observation does not have the same duration, so I have
scaled the times for each observation to a scale between 0 and 1. I would
like to smooth over time, and the following

gss package - predict.ssanova
Hi
I'm using the gss package to fit thin plate splines. I've fitted the tps
without problems and got a ssanova object. Then I wanted to do some
prediction using a new set of data (latlon data) and I got an error

maxLik pakage
Hi all;
I recently have been used 'maxLik' function for maximizing G2StNV178 function with gradient function gradlik; for receiving this goal, I write the following program; but I have been seen an error in calling gradient function;
The maxLik function can't enter gradlik function (definition of gradient function); I guess my mistake is in line ******** ,that the vector ‘h’ is

gss_0.8-2
A new version of gss, version 0.8-2, is on CRAN now. Numerous new
functionalities have been added since my last r-announce post.
An ssanova1 suite has been added since version 0.7-4. It implements
low-dimensional approximations of the smoothing spline ANOVA models
of the ssanova suite. ssanova1 scales much better than ssanova with
large sample sizes.

np package, KleinSpady estimator, error when I estimate the bootstrapped standard errors
Dear all,
I am using np package in order to estimate a model with Klein and Spady
estimator. To estimate the model I use
KS <- npindexbw (xdat=X, ydat=Y, bandwidth.compute=TRUE,
method="kleinspady", optim.maxit=10^3, ckertype="epanechnikov", ckerorder=2)
and to estimate beta hats standard errors I use
KSi <- npindex(KS, gradients=T, boot.num=300)
vcov(KSi)

About Omega in pda()
** High Priority **
Hello R users
My issue is both theorical and technical.
I would like to run a penalised discriminant analysis with the fda() function, but I don''t know all the details of splines theory.
I try on the example of the phonems from the article "Penalised Discriminant Analysis" of Hastie, Buja and Tibshirani 1994 : 5 groups and 256 variables.

I would like to estimate the standard errors of Klein and Spady's estimator
for that I am using:

Z<-X%*%BETA

How to create a matrix with 3 dimensions from several 2 dimensional matrice?
Hi every one,
How is it possible to create a matrix with 3 dimensions from several 2
dimensional matrice?
Is it possible that each of "elementary/building block" matrices could be
called by its corresponding original name?
Thanks alot.

How to it a "loess curve" and obtain the equation in R?

Hi
I would like to know if the "penalty associated with the fit" that is
printed by the summary.ssanova function is the smoothing parameter
(\lambda) of the criterion function that's minimized to find f.
Thanks

A introductory question about Zips law (Newbie to statistics)
Hi everyone.
Newbie to statistics.
I have 40 matrices of ~400 values. how may I determine whether the
distribution follows zips law?
response <-sample (1:20,400*4, replace= TRUE)
Thank you vry much.

Apply a loop containing a function on a list
Hi all,
I want to do this:
B.list$aa= (a loop containing My.fun acting on the reults of second
function on a A.list$aa))
or, overally
B.list$aa = function (A.list$aa)
B.list and A.list has many sublists aa, ab and.... Is there a way I can
apply the function and loop on all sublists of A.list and get B.list?
Thanks in advance.

Structural Equation Model
Hello all!
I want to estimate parameters in a MIMIC model. I have one latent
variable (ksi), four reflexive indicators (y1, y2, y3 and y4) and four
formative indicators (x1, x2, x3, x4). Is there a way to do it in R? I
know there is the SEM library, but it seems not to be possible to
specify formative indicators, that is, observed exogenous variables
which causes the latent variable.
Thanks,
