One possible plan for remote support
John, It's probably worth setting out from what the problem is / what we are trying to solve here. At the moment if you run a command like: virt-inspector -d Guest then libguestfs asks libvirt [-d option] for the XML corresponding to the libvirt guest called 'Guest'. This will contain disk sections like this: <disk type='block' device='disk'>

Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi, we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving) are dropped from time to time. I was planing to exchange the server respectively distribut

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order to get better performance with an Access Database, which along with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus. When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't. The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't really. The

mail_log & doveadm
Is there any way to have doveadm NOT log using mail_log, but have the daemons do it? (or have doveadm's log go to syslogd)? Planning migration
I think I have a working dovecot installation, and the time has come to migrate my users. There are only 4 of us, so it can be done manually per user. I looked at this page in the wiki http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync but I am totally confused. 1st off, it uses doveadm, but with commands parameters that dont match my doveadm's man page. In fact they look more like dsync

Quota
Hi, is it possible to ask Dovecot for a users quota by talking to the Dovecot server over TCP? I know about doveadm quota -u <user>, but I would like to know, if I can query for that over a network connection (on the Postfix ML they suggested writing a policy service that checks quota. Postfix is not always on the same server as Dovecot is). Does the LMTP protocol give that information

http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.16.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.16.tar.gz.sig I only now noticed that the VSZ limits weren't being enforced with earlier v2.0.x releases (or they were set 1024 times too high). So if a Dovecot process was leaking memory, it wasn't being killed by kernel. Now that this enforcing is done, some installations will probably

Problem with 'doveadm mailbox status -t' reporting cumulative vsizes after upgrading from v2.0.16 to v2.1.7
Hi, I upgraded from Dovecot v2.0.16 to v2.1.7 over night and I noticed this morning that one of my daily reports which lists summarised mailbox sizes per user has started listing nonsense for vsizes. The reporting script at its core calls : doveadm -f flow mailbox status -A -t 'messages vsize' '*' It appears that Dovecot 2.1.7 is not resetting the vsize after collating the sum

doveadm "-S <socket_path>" option enabled in 2.0.8?
I apologize if this is a stupid question but I just compiled 2.0.8 and am trying to use doveadm to get the quota for a user using the -S <socket_path> option because I have different options for the various local IPs that dovecot listens on. For example, my default quota is filesystem (NFS rquota) and I can get that by doing: doveadm quota get -u warden which tells me: Quota name
