dos/unix translating
I'm using server with Debian 6.0.3 + Samba 3.5.6 where I shared "/temporary" folder.
It happens this behaviour: if I create a text file in my Windows XP client and I copy it to /temporary folder, then I open it by VI editor into my Debian server and I see '^M' at the end of every row.
How can I solve problem ? Problem references to Dos/Unix newline translating ?

no group package selection via PXE network installation
I'm trying to install centos 6.4 on my server A (which has 512 MB ram and no

I exported installation tree 'CentOS-6.4-i386-bin-DVD1.iso' via http on
server 'Z', all according to Centos howto (copied vmlinuz, pxelinux.cfg,
initrd.img , started tftpd+dhcpd services)
Boot process is OK (in text mode! I think it's a memory problem); it's

authentication occurs through Microsoft Active Directory by Winbind daemon.
OS is Centos 6.4 and Sendmail is 8.14

Unix .TXT vs DOS .TXT files
Is there any option that will covert a text file from one system
to the other? I have a few files on linux with extension TXT. There are
plain text files. On NT, TXT is associated with the "notepad" and opens
with the file as one long string. This is the typical CR/LF conversions
between Unix and DOS.
Can Samba convert the text files based on the client?

Dos To Unix?
If we drag a file from a Windows directory - say autoexec.bat and drop it
onto a samba mapped Unix drive, when we then go to the Unix box and vi the
file all the lines end in the DOS EOL character (^M) is there any
option/configuration in samba to make it convert DOS text files to UNIX
format?

Problem compiling Rnw file
Dear R list,
I'm using R 2.15.2 with TeX Live 2009 and ESS 12.09 . I have a R
project in the '/home/r/Documents/myproj/', which is my working
directory (where I have the .Rnw file). Inside the document I have
several "setwd()" to collect the datasets I use.
After I compile from the terminal using "R CMD Sweave myproj.Rnw", I
receive the error:

Hi, I'm working with support vector machine for the classification
purpose, and I have a problem about the accuracy of prediction.
I divided my data set in train (1/3 of enteire data set) and test (2/3

model I obtain different result, according with the result of the

cygwin rsync and ascii files
I am ysyncing text files between NT/95/XP machines and Solaris. I noted
that the text/ascii files created on the windows platforms contain ^M at
the end of each line when transfered to the Solaris system. This can be
explained by the binary transmission and can use FTP is ASCII mode to
prevent this from happening. It is crutial that we preserve the time
stamp, so running dos2unix isn't one

Write unix format files on windows and vice versa
I go back and forth between windows and linux, and find myself running
into problem with line endings. Is there a way to control the line
ending conversion when writing files, such as write and cat? More
explicitly I want to be able to write files with LF line endings
rather than CRLF line ending on windows; and CRLF line endings instead
of LF on linux, and I want to be able to control when the

Centos 6 - Persistant static routes
I know how to use 'ip' to set up a static route, e.g.:
ip route add 192.168.128.0/17 via 40.53.24.3 dev eth0
But if you reboot or restart network, you loose this. Thus you have to
make it persistant. I found:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/configuring-static-routes-in-debian-or-red-hat-linux-systems.html
where it says to add to ifcfg-eth0:
192.168.128.0/17 via 40.53.24.3
