net rpc rights list - could not connect to server 127.0.0.1
I had already checked these files (smb.conf, krb5.conf, hosts) and they match each other, but the error still appears... Is there anything else I can check? Too many open files when using clearcase
FYI: I'm using samba 2.0.6 for clearcase interoperation between Unix and NT, and while it works great 99% of the time, I run into a problem whenever I do a complete build on an NT system, which involves compiling ~1500 files. The first 1100 or so are compiled correctly, but then the following errors show up on the NT box: The system cannot open the device or file specified. And the

perl updates always break perl programs, how to fix?
I realize this is my fault because once upon a time I installed a package using CPAN and probably other admins on the system have as well but now whenever I update perl I have to jump through hoops to get perl applications to work again (usually updating Scalar::Util and another package with CPAN). I would love to figure out how to fix this so it's not such a headache to keep up to date with

Samba 3.0.21b is not able to connect to password server
On our AIX 5.2 system we have Samba 3.0.4 and 3.0.21b. The smb.conf files are identical for both versions. The 3.0.4 version runs fine, but with 3.0.21b, we get errors like the following when trying to run smbclient: [2006/02/28 22:03:05, 0] rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:cli_rpc_pipe_open_schannel(2641) cli_rpc_pipe_open_schannel: failed to get schannel session key from server FD0 00XSFED01 for

Strange problem with Samba as AD member
Dear all, I've a real strange problem with one of my Samba-servers. Most of the time a lot of users get the message about "trust relationship failure" when trying to access the share on this server. Below you find part of a log where the user can access the share and a few seconds later it's no longer possible. "net ads testjoin" shows that join of the samba-server

Question about username maps in Samba
I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution for this interesting problem I've run across.... I work within a multi-Unix environment. We've got HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Tru64 (!) here. Because of this, some of our users have multiple logins, so that they can have multiple user environments for the product development scripts that they run. One of our Sun boxes serves as our Samba

joys of transition.
Red Hat 8.0 stock dovecot 99.10 for a variety of reasons, I decided to cut over to dovecot this morning. I extracted all of my mailboxes from mbx purgatory back to mbox purgatory, set up dovecot and proceed to get authentication failures. (am using simple password based authentication either direct or through pam) I turned authentication verbosity on and got: Aug 14 11:51:38 harvee dovecot:

Vanishing Permissions on Shares
I am trying to move our network from windows NT-2k to Samba /Linux. So far everything is great but there is one main obstacle; when I apply permissions to a Samba share via my W2K workstation, the permissions instantly disappear. This happens regardless of the owner / creator of file or the user / group permission I attempt to add. I have run 2.2.7, 2.2.8, and now 3.0 beta3. All three behave
