Error in Sweave but not underlying script
I'm trying to use Sweave to create a dynamic report of a variety of financial data checks. I have an .R code file to pull the data from a database, manipulate and filter it, and create individual data frames for each test. My Sweave .RNW document then calls that file with source() to generate the data for the report. The .R file works fine on its own, but when I run it from within the Sweave

FileLockEx Problem
Hi, I'm a developer working on an application for Windows XP and have been using the Win32 API call FileLockEx() on shared files (writing or reading). This has been working fine, but we now have a customer where this causes the following error when trying to lock a file on a samba network drive (it works fine if the file is local or on a windows shared drive): LockFileEx returns false.

marginality principle / selecting the right type of SS for an interaction hypothesis
Hello, I have a problem with selecting the right type of sums of squares for an ANCOVA for my specific experimental data and hypotheses. I do have a basic understanding of the differences between Type-I, II, and III SSs, have read about the principle of marginality, and read Venable's "Exegeses on Linear Models" (http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/MASS3/Exegeses.pdf). I am pretty new to

However, it doesn't do it for my own data. Does anyone have a clue as to what

Post quantum encryption question
Have people given thought to the private key encryption methods in light of potential quantum attacks? While the recent paper about breaking 50bit RSA doesn't pose a threat I've been thinking about future harvest now, decrypt later attacks against CC20 and AES. Are there post quantum ciphers that can effectively replace these available or in development? Is the threat still too far off to

Shorewall + squid + multi isp
Hello all, I''m reading the nice documentation about shorewall with multi isp. And I wonder about squid (non transparent) and shorewall Can I use on same machine, squid with ldap ident, dansguardian, and shorewall with multi-isp (four or five) ? Perhaps there is a problem because squid mask source IP, shorewall can maintain and load balance sessions for the same source IP ? Thanks Fred
