FW: Need Help Getting Windows XP To Use Samba Properly
Takahashi, thanks for your response. No antivirus software is installed, firewall disabled completely. I might have to go the sniffer route. But this is XP and Samba, both old products. I can't imagine that I'd be the first one to have such a ridiculous problem trying to get XP to be able to browse a Samba box. This is fresh WinXP right out of the box (with SP3) having this problem,

Re: Samba VFS CAP, hope some help
'/' is one of illegal filename characters on Windows. So a filename containing '/' is always mangled regardless of your character settings (including CAP settings). This behavior comes from limitation of Windows filesystems and by design. samba Digest, Vol 147, Issue 19
Hello, thanks for replying. I installed and configured samba 4.1.7 and ntp 4.2.6 according to https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation. I don't need further time updates. I need to change the date to DC samba4 the first days of every months by the last day of the previous month and my clients automatically update their time. I am aware of problems this can trigger but in this

Failed to transfer all 7 FSMOs
Hello, I tested to transfer all 7 FSMOs from Windows Server 2003 Enterprise to Samba 4.3.0 DC. (I think some users still use Win2K3 and want to migrate.) But unfortunately is failed. To reproduce, (1) Promoto Win2K3R2 Enterprise host to first DC. (2) Join self-built Samba 4.3.0 to the domain. (3) Run 'samba-tool fsmo transfer --role=all' root at jessie64-1:~# samba-tool fsmo

Please release samba-2.0.7 and SWAT i18n
I belong to Samba Users Group Japan and maintain Samba 2.0.5a Japanized version. It's only l10n'ed Samba , but is used widely in Japan. And now we are planning to release next Samba Japanized version. But Samba 2.0.6 is half i18n'ed and more difficult to do l10n than 2.0.5a and as we said to Mr. Allison on 18th Dec. 1999 in Japan, the i18n of current SAMBA_2_0 branch works well, so we

Mac OS X status
Hi Recently I play with Mac OS X and find some major issues: I reported the most major issue as BUG#8042: Newly create files are always failed with NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8042> I found other issues with Samba 3.5.8 and Mac OS X 10.6.7: - --with-readline (default) causes compile error so explicitly --without-readline is needed. Fwd: Re: Problem with Samba - Openldap and domain autentication of Windows XP
Wait, you are using samba with openldap backend. Why are you using useradd ??? with this backend you need smbldap instead. like this: passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://your ldap server ldap passwd sync = yes ldap delete dn = Yes ldap admin dn = cn=root,dc=domain,dc=com,dc=br ldap suffix = dc=domain,dc=com,dc=br ldap machine suffix =

Mandatory Server Signing with Windows 7
The wiki page settings control a netlogon security setting. I guess the "server signing" parameter applies to all the other traffic. But my guess - and it is only a guess- is that requiring server signing is causing the netlogon process to break since it does not support signing. The e-mail chain you reference does not make it clear if the samba instance is a domain

Fwd: Not able to join windows 10 clients to samba 3.6.23 NT4 Style PDC
Hi Gaiseric, Thank you for quick reply. I configured my PDC as WINS server and specified "IP of PDC". I observed some errors in NMBD log, "become_domain_master_query failed". I am googling these errors. On Mon, May 16, 2016 at 6:57 PM, Gaiseric Vandal <gaiseric.vandal at gmail.com> wrote: > If this is an NT4-style domain, then DNS is not essential. Things like
