Win7 client, Samba PDC
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC for some Win7 clients, and could use
some help. I can successfully join the domain, with the message "Changing
the primary domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed.", but I am still
told that it was successful.
However, when I try to log in, I am told "The trust relationship between

disk cloning ?
Dear All
I needed to clone my disk to another hard drive . I did it as the following :
#dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/sdc
But after a while, the procedure ended with the "writing to /dev/sdc
input/output error" message.
Can you please let me know how can I overcome this as the fdisk now returns as "

how to synch multiple servers?
Is there a way to synch multiple servers at once so when one is changed,
samba updates all the other servers at the same time automatically?

windows 7 clients complain that the trust relationship with the server has failed
I'm running my samba 3.5.9 server on CentOS 5.x. Windows 7 clients can add themselves to the domain, and local users on the client can map network drives (even ones they don't have access to and modify the contents!!!) and net view and net use commands work, but give the user too much access. XP clients can add themselves to the domain, authenticate users correctly and apply correct

high memory utilzation
Hi
I have a server running samba process and there
are about 70 samba users connected at a time. The system has 4Gb of
memory and it seems each samba process is utilizing only 3352Kb of
memory.
When I run the command
pmap -d (pid of samba)
It gives as:

Win7 login script not running
I?ve got a 4.1.3 Samba PDC Server on Debian Wheezy. It?s running
in Classic mode ? all existing clients are Windows XP Pro.
I?m installing a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit PC, and have managed to join
it to the domain, but can?t get the user?s login script to run.
The login scripts work fine on XP.
The pertinent sections of smb.conf contain:
logon script = %U.bat
logon drive = G:

I was running wine with no problems until I upgraded ubuntu to 8.10
Now, programs start in wine but don't really run and I can no longer browse the C:\ dirve.

Thanks

DotNet applications
Hi,
I have an application that want to install the DotNet FrameWork. the
Setup of the FrameWork starts, but then fails with the message, Internet
Explorer 5.5 or higher would be required.
How can I get over this message without really installing an Internet

get new machines to join the domain. I've set the WINS on these machines
in the IPv4 network configuration and get as far as entering my samba

Looking for developers trying to build Windows apps on Wine
So far, Firefox (with msvc 2005) and a couple other apps (one using open watcom)
build properly on wine. I'm pecking away at the problems that get in the
way (particularly cmd bugs at the moment).
If you're trying to build a Windows app on Wine by running your
normal Windows build procedure (as opposed to using winegcc),
I'd like to hear from you, especially if a bug in cmd or some
