Can join ADS domain, all accounts/auth work fine, but leaving domain fails
Hello all, As the subject says, as far as I can tell everything works on my ads integrated samba server. Domain accounts can be used for ssh, and accessing shares, I just can't leave the domain. Here is a successful join command followed by an unsuccessful leave command at debug level 4. Any ideas? TIA, Mark user@dordal:~$ sudo net ads join -U administrator@MYDOMAIN.COM -d 4 [2009/03/19

smbclient, DFS and not_defined_in_RFC4178 [samba 3.4.7 and windows 2003 sp2 AND 2008 sp2]
Hi all, I'm trying to use DFS. Using smbclient 3.4.7 (distributed with Lucid) and windows servers with both 2008sp2 and 2003sp2. Smbclient successfully lookups up our DCC's. If the first in the DNS reply is a 2003 server it works but if I get a 2008 it doesn't. The main differences is that I get a "not_defined_in_RFC4178 at please_ignore" principal in the SMB Negotiate

ADS Join on Windows 2008 domain not working in 3.0.25b?
Hi, Using samba 3.0.25b, testing to join to a Windows 2008 domain using ADS security with kerberos and it doesn't seem to work. Anybody else tried this combination? Same configuration worked joining to a Windows 2003 R2 domain. I'm not a samba expert but looking at the log it looks like the not_defined_in_RFC4178@please_ignore have something to do with it? Samba member server and trusted domains question
Hi, I have two Windows Domains, DOMA and DOMB. A Samba 3.6 Server is a member server in DOMA. DOMA has a (unidirectional) trust relationship to DOMB. Users from DOMB should be able to connect and authenticate at the Samba server. The domain controller of DOMB has the IP 10.35.5.25. During authentication of a DOMB user at a share I get the following log entries: get_dc_list: preferred server

Machine accounts
I 'm trying to figure out why my samba box can 't get any information about trusted w2k ad domains. The linux samba server is a domain member of a w2k domain. Everything is fine with this domain, but I can 't get sequence numbers, nor users, nor groups from others domains in the active directory. The main error seems to be "Server not found in kerberos database" when it

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit) machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly* identical in their common section; the filewall rules

Could not join to domain with krb5 error: Message stream modified
Hi all, I have a situation in which my SAMBA 3.0.14a could not join the a very large windows 2003 AD domain with tens of domain controllers all over the world. With an error I have never seen before. The kinit part went OK but the net ads join part failed. What we tried is to have our SAMBA joined one of the OU in which we have the credentials to join. BTW we had no problem to join other

publishing printer to ADS not working
Hello everybody, I have run into a problem which I am not able to resolve by myself :-( Yesterday I have added a new printer (cups) to a Samba 3.0.28a server. The new printer showed up in the network neighborhood (Windows XP) and I was able to print to the new print queue. Then I tried to publish the new printer to the AD ( we use a windows 2000 server for user administration and GPOs) with the

Annoying Winbind Pause While Looking Up Permissions
Our linux SLES10 fileserver is running Samba (3.0.28) and is a domain member in a Win2003 AD. Everything has been working fine for several months with the exception of an annoying pause that occurs while browsing shares. The pause will last 30 seconds and occurs roughly once every 5-10 minutes. The pause is universal, meaning, that all Windows clients trying to browse or access files will see this

Need a tiny bit of help with ADS integration
Hey List, I need just a bit of help. I'm stuck on my integration of a samba server into an ADS domain. I've read(and re-read) the entire Samba How-To as well as several other articles on the net. Here is what I need to do: Have a share set up so that windows users can browse to it via Win Explorer/Network Neighborhood and not have to provide credentials as 2nd time (SSO type stuff)

Strong(er) authentication required when joining Active Directory (Samba 3.0.28)
Hello all, I'm having problems getting Samba to join a Windows AD. I am delegated OU admin, and have no direct access to the domain controller. We have 3 DCs in one domain where my OU exists. The users I wish to authenticate are in a different domain. I have set up Kerberos and can receive tickets correctly. I run net -d 4 ads join createcomputer=[Delegated OU] -U [account with join
