Error ERRaccess in Samba 2.0.7 printing to Netgear print servers
I recently compiled and installed Samba 2.0.7 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 using gcc v 2.7.2.1 (Skunkware 98). I was running Samba 1.9.18p7 with no problems. We use a modified smbprint.sysv script to print to Windows shared printers and also Netgear PS104 print servers. Printing to the Windows shared printers is working fine, but printing to the Netgear print servers does not work. I get the

Syncing Sysvol
Rowland, You could go another step further and run that with "notify" to monitor for changes, instead of having to run it in a cron job. In my experience, "notify" works using smbclient, but not so with libsmbclient. Another nice benefit of using smbclient + 'samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset' over rsync is that you don't need worry about the built-in user/group ID

Syncing Sysvol
Hi, in this thread: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2019-July/224365.html Joachim Lindenberg reminded me that he was using smbclient to sync Sysvol. He posted (in the link above) a link to his original post: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2019-July/224346.html Here he posted a copy of his script. I personally would never have thought about using smbclient, but it just goes to

linux pdc two subnets over vpn almost working, but not quite
Ok, I have linux samba pdc wins server 192.168.1.150 behind a cisco router(192.168.1.1). everything else behind that router works fine, clients look at 192.168.1.150 as WINS server. vpn over to netgear router(192.168.2.1), with 192.168.2.x subnet. the netgear tells all dhcp clients to look at 192.168.1.150 as WINS server. clients on 192.168.1.x network can ping clients on 192.168.2.x network

parsing out adjacent text
hey all, I'm trying to figure out how to use apache's mod_status module to figure out which of the web servers in a farm of six are processing more requests than others. I'm writing a script to grep out requests per second from the status module like this: [root at uszmpwslp014lc ~]# GET http://$(hostname -i)/server-status | grep -i requests/sec <dt>4.08 requests/sec -

Smbclient command line password parsing
Hi there, I've got a question about the way that smbclient parses the password from the command line in the -U argument (i.e. -U'username%password'). This came up recently when I was trying to figure out why the cupsaddsmb command was failing for me. It appears that smbclient can't take passwords out of the command line with leading 'special' characters such as = or

Bug 12518 - smbclient -c 'cd <dir>; ls' for DFS generates STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
This issue is reproducible for this customer and a couple of others. We execute the smbclient command the same way for each instance. The null user name is valid syntax sent from the smbclient. When we send the command " smbclient -c 'cd <dir>; ls' ", samba code executes starting with Negotiate Protocol Request, and onward. I'm guessing this could be a DFS issue, but

Autofs and Fedora 11
Hi! I'm having trouble accessing Samba shares via autofs. Let me begin by saying that I can access the samba shares directly using smbclient without any trouble. For example: smbclient //Matsa/Pisi works fine. I first started out by copying a config line from an older system (redhat 7) that has in its auto.misc: (all on one line, of course) pisi

Automounting Windows XP share on Linux
I have /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.smb such that ls /smb/<name of system> works for the two Win98 machines on my network (the machines get automatically mounted and the directory contains "C"). When I try the same command on the Windows XP machine, I get No such file or directory The auto.smb file that came with my OS (Libranet 3) uses smbclient to get a list of

SysV interface script
A long time ago, on a mailing list far away, I promised to send the SysV interface script that I use with success; the supplied one is a bit, err, basic... Well, one thing led to another, and I quite forgot, so without further ado, here it is (usual disclaimers): #!/bin/sh # # This interface script drives a PC-attached printer via the SAMBA utility. # # This script is a gross simplification of

Bug 12518 - smbclient -c 'cd <dir>; ls' for DFS generates STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
I am wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at bug 12518? This is the context of the message: Wireshark trace gives a STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER when running smbclient -c 'cd <dir>;ls' as a standalone program. This is a customer issue. We cannot recreate this issue so we're looking for why this may be happening. From the trace you'll see multiple sessions with

Hi all, When I try to make a connection to our windows server with smbclient: smbclient //server/dira/dirb/dirc -U username -W workgroup Password: ***** I get a working ftp-like connection to our data. parsing log files
Hello, I would like to get ip, date and client of each listener from acces.log in order to get stats and put them on a php page and/or MySQL base. I'm not a bash/sed/awk expert and I think this file is not easily parsable. What about making more easy to use log files ? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe

parsing dir output for file sizes
I've got an R wrapper around an old DOS program. In the R program I need to test whether the DOS program failed to produce certain output. This is indicated by certain text files created by the DOS program being empty. I can use system(command, intern=TRUE) to get the output of a DOS dir for a test file, but I'm having trouble parsing this to get the file size. Is there an R function

Tar Failures Using smbclient from Samba 3.0.0beta2
I was trying to improve the performance of BackupPC http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/, which uses smbclient to connect to Windows systems to backup Windows desktop systems. I'm currently running Samba 2.2.8a on a fairly beefy Solaris 9 system and only getting 200-700 KB/sec from the Windows clients. The 700 KB/sec is when I connect to a dual-Athalon 2600+ Win2K system attached to the
