Samba/winbind with Active Directory auth
Hi List, I'm installing a Samba server with the intended purpose of serving files to Windows users with seamless authentication on the smb server. For that, I've been reading and following every single google search result regarding the subject, but it seems I'm stuck at some point where other people are not blocked ... To summarize, I have these commands OK: # kinit admin_user at

ntlm_auth and Server 2008 issues
We are having the same Samba issue as noted here: http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2009-November/msg00664.html Has anybody on this list experienced this " \NETLOGON fnum 0xareturned critical error. Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED" error? This wasn't happening until our AD admin upgraded the AD servers to windows server 2008 R2. Also, I see this

Winbind AD authentication problem
It seems I have the same problem that was discussed briefly earlier on this list in a mail from Kris Kaido. I didn't see any solution, so I'm wondering if it's considered a bug that needs to be fixed or simply a configuration error. To be more specifc; I have joined a Win2008R2 Forest/Domain AD with my server running RHEL5.4 - samba-3.0.33-3.14.el5 without problems. I can view

troule switching winbind to use a new AD 2008
I have been using 2003 AD servers for winbind for many years, and now 2008 is phasing in, but I can't authenticate using the new servers, and I'm not sure what to do. All advice very welcome. This is a problem for me on both Gentoo (samba 3.0.33) and Debian Lenny (samba 3.0.24). For debugging, I ran winbind interactively and piped output to a file (winbindd -d 3 -i). I have also

Still using Samba 3.3.6 since I couldn't seem to get Samba 4 to work from backports. My sticking point right now is that winbind is mapping the wrong UID to my test user.

NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED error
Running 3.2.15 on RHEL 5.4 64-bit. Joined the domain with no issues, able to look up id's with no problem. Windows clients within the domain are able to use defined shares. However, when trying to look up trusted domains, or when trying to access shares from clients not in the domain (for example, using smbclient), the following errors show up: rpc_api_pipe: Remote machine <DC name

Samba wiki
I think there is a bug in the MediaWki installtion with Pages containing a "&" in the title. Example: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_%26_Active_Directory This link doesn't work despite appearing on many pages, like https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Category:Category_Integration Where ever it is linked, it looks like an existing page (blue link). Change AD user password from Linux
Has anyone gotten Active Directory user passwords changed from a Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) client? I used https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto as a guide, so I'm using Kerberos and Winbind (all apt-get). Samba version is 3.0.28a with a Windows Sever 2008 R2 DC, but running AD 2003 native. The client box is an LTSP box, and I'm able to ssh in with AD accounts.

Automatic creation of users home directories - problem with username case
Hello list, I have a problem with Samba and automatic creation of user home directories. There is a Win2008R2 AD and Samba are successfully joined to domain. Samba is running on CentOS 6.3 32-bit. Domain users can access Samba without problems. We decided to use home directories and mount them as network H: disk, so user can store it's data there. The problem is that WinXP users after

Winbind: can't log in as domain user
Sorry about the lengthy post - I'm putting as much in here as I can in hopes that someone can help me ferret out the problem. Basic problem is that domain users can't successfully log into the linux box. I'm trying to set this box up as an ltsp server authenticating against our existing AD (although this is actually in a test lab - I didn't really want to trash anything real

Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED
Hi, Does anyone know what this error means? \NETLOGON fnum 0xc008returned critical error. Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED This causes drive mappings to be dropped and is temporarily remedied by restarting winbind. I have seen the error referenced in previous posts, but I haven't seen any responses. Thanks, -Chuck

How to mount NT share & maintain NT share permission via SMB for LTSP user??
When a regular user (say, "jmc") logs onto my Linux (LTSP, Samba, DHCP) server via his LTSP terminal I need an NT drive share to be mounted with the permissions that NT intends. Our NT file print server has a directory named "private" which contains subdirectories for each user. Each user has NT read/write permissions to his/her private subdir and no others. I need for each

Question regarding config, not sure if syslinux or tftp-hpa related
Good morning everybody, I'm pretty new to syslinux & tftp-hpa, and so I'm not quite sure where my question belongs to, but I'll try it here first. I want to enhance the network services by offering a LTSP (just for the case the pc or laptop doesn't work for some reasons). And so, for testing, I added a second linux-based system (lets call it system-b). Currently the tftpd

newbie thinclient env
i have a lot of questions, maybe you've got some answers. I've got the following setup : 1 central server ( linux ) , 17 servers ( LTSP ) on different locations, where each server has a number of thinclients connected to it ( max 6 ) The central server / 17 LTSP servers are on the internet and share 1 VPN ( freeswan ). It would be nice if the 17 LTSP servers could use asterix on one

ltsp kernel crash
Hi, I've been using pxe-enabled nic's with an lzpxe-etherboot image generated by rom-o-matic.net to boot a ltsp.org kernel, with dhcp 3 to use if statements to determine which filename option he gives to the pxe/etherboot dhcp client.Explained at http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/pxe.howto.html This works perfectly, except for the fact that you can't use 1 etherboot pxe image for
