problems after upgrade from 3.3.2 to 3.4.0
Hi, After upgrading one of my samba servers from ubuntu jaunty (3.3.2) to karmic (3.4.0) I cannot access the shares any more. The server (FINTLEWOODLEWIX) is set up to check authentication via a PDC (IO), which is also running 3.4.0 (and has been before). Guest access is allowed so that any users without a local unix account will be granted read access. Valid users are allowed read/write. After

Upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3; users lack SIDs
I recently have upgraded from Samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.7. I am using LDAP as a backend, but I'm running into a problem. Namely, since my user entries have no sambaSID attribute, Samba decides they don't exist. (At least, that's how it looks in the logs, included below.) I've looked through the conversion script that's included with Samba 3, but it just uses the rid attribute,

Very strange login errors.
We're finally trying to move off of Samba 2.x, and are having some very strange login issues. I've built two identical boxes, both running fully patched Ubuntu 9.10 x64, both have as packaged by Ubuntu 3.4.0 samba installs. Both are joined to the Active Directory server fine. net ads testjoin on both hosts reports "Join is OK" getent passwd on both hosts returns the full user

Samba as Domain Member Server Authentication Problem
I've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain

unable to join w2k3 SP1 to samba 3 domain.
Hello, I've been trying to join w2k3 machine to samba 3 domain for a last few hours. This is strange but all I get from joining process is: The Specified User Already Exists. More than 100 machines running XP are already added to the same domain as well as Linux machines. The only problem I've got is 2003 server. This w2k3 server is quite pure however it wasn't me who has installed

joining to a Domain with a tdbsam backend (smb.conf, testparm and log included)
I'm about to give up. It's been months now that I've been playing around with Samba 3.0. I've downloaded their documentation. Tried to follow it as much as possible, but I'm getting no where with adding machine accounts to a Domain, real fast. I've asked this question a couple of times at the Samba Mailing list, but have gotten no reply(probably my fault, not enough info).

I want to do a new domain named DOMAINB from the users I imported from DOMAINA (NT4 PDC) using net rpc vampire. It went well and every user is in the DB, including the
