NIS - netgroup
Hello;
Sorry for the crosspost/repost, but I am getting desparate here.
I am having difficulties setting up ssh (ossh4.3p2 - NIS -Solaris8/Sparc) to
authenticate and allow ossh access based on NIS netgroup. So, users and/or
host should be from a valid netgroup triple, contained within the ossh
servers .rhosts, .shosts, hosts.equiv and/or shosts.equiv.
I am having alot of trouble getting NIS

WINS question
Hello
Have a trouble.
I have mashine with two interfaces.
Samba running at both with the same name of computer.
In wins-servers wins.dat i see next string:

It's ok.
But for ALL mashines in any interfaces with any IP (192.168.1.X or 192.168.2.X)

NetBIOS across subnets
Hi all,
I would like two Samba servers to be able to talk to each other via NetBIOS.
The problem is that they are on two different subnets. I have enabled
broadcast ping on the routers, and the servers can each ping the other subnet
with no trouble. The two relevant IPs are 192.168.1.101 and 192.168.2.3.
There is a T1 between two Cisco routers, and IP routing is all set up.

IPSec tunnel and routing
Hello.
I wonder how just correct couple of spdadd commands like
spdadd 192.168.1.0/24 192.168.2.0/24 any -P out ipsec esp/tunnel/10.1.0.1-10.2.0.1/require;
spdadd 192.168.2.0/24 192.168.1.0/24 any -P in ipsec esp/tunnel/10.2.0.1-10.1.0.1/require;
makes _routing_ of packets from 192.168.1/24 into 192.168.2/24.
If I understand correctly how it works on *BSD, these commands with

How to setup /etc/resolv.conf dependent on network
Hello,
I am a beginner in puppet so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
(I use puppet 3.1).
We have nodes in different networks - they use different DNS servers.
I''d like to set up its /etc/resolv.conf dependent on network they are in.
What approach would you recommend to solve the problem ?
Thanks in advance

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4
Greetings!
Tonight is unfortunately the first small bit of time I've had to even
try to get Samba configured between my Vista and my Linux FC4. (My mother
as well as my extremely limited home time dealing with important things
are my main delays.)
It's not going well. :-)
I have added hosts allow with 192.168.1 and 192.168.2. I have
experimented with a few things. I

Cross Subnet Browsing.
hi,
I need a hand setting up cross subnet browsing. Does anyone have some
good news group postings, or a HOWTO?
I have 2 samba servers, and 2 subnets. Each servers sits on it's own
domain/workgroup. I think this should be much simpler than it is,
and perhaps I am just missing one or two settings.
Of the 2 servers: A, B I would like 'A' to do any serving or

unknown qdisc ''htb'' ???
Hello,
I''d like to try out HTB for traffic shaping.
I have a test machine with Redhat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.10), I''ve downloaded
kernel 2.4.17, applied the patch from http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/,
recompiled the kernel (checked the option to use HTB in make menuconfig),
and rebooted with the new kernel.
When I try to add some rules with HTB (f.i. tc qdisc add dev eth0 root

SAMBA doesn't like me anymore :(
Hi All,
Okay, SAMBA officially doesn't like me or something.
Here's the poop:
- Brand-new FreeBSD 4.7 box
- SAMBA 2.2.6pre2 (built from the ports tree)
- I have dual NICs, one on 192.168.1 (students) the other on 192.168.2 (staff)
- I need two operational workgroups "STUDENTS" & "STAFF" each tied to their
own interface.
- This machine needs to do all the

regex in case statement
I would like to do a case statement based on different vlans. If a person does a case statement on $ipaddress provided by facter,
can you match regex expressions such as
case $ipaddress {
"192.168.1.[0-9]+":
do something
"192.168.2.[0-9]+":
do something else
}
Also, would this best be solved by a case statement or other functionality within puppet?
Thanks

Network accounting
Hello,
we have been using squid cache under CentOS 6.
There is basic accounting for each host/client but we need
to account for each subnet. Can you recommend any software
which easily let us do subnets network accounting ?
E.g.:
192.168.1.x X Gb
192.168.2.x Y Gb
192.168.3.x Z Gb
...

getent & winbindd on FreeBSD 5.4
I'm trying to get a FreeBSD 5.4 server to join a NT4 domain as a member
domain server using winbindd. I've compiled Samba with WinBIND support, ACL
Support, Syslog support, UTMP support, SMB PAM module, and with installed
POPT library.
I've reviewed Chapter 20 of TOSHARG and implemented a good portion of it
into our smb.conf file but am having trouble making the 'getent'

Massive confusion
I'm probably thinking way too hard on this... but I've already got a
headache.
I've setting up a VPN for a client between two sites. Someone had
recommended vtun, so I gave it a try. I was VERY put off by the lack of
decent documentation. I _think_ I got a VPN set up between the two sites,
but it wasn't working right and I gave up because the documentation sucked.
So, then I

Subnet not visible in Network Neighbourhood
Hi list!
I've got a debian "etch" box running samba 3.0.24.
The server is a firewall (running Shorewall 3.2.6) with five NICs:
eth0 -> DSL (it has a public IP address and it allows all the people
browse by masquerading other interfaces)
eth1 and eth3 -> bond0 (IP address is 192.168.1.1/24)
eth2 and eth4 -> bond1 (IP address is 192.168.2.1/24)
BTW, bond+ refers to an

Initial configuration problem
Ok, this has been quite an experience. I have installed and set up Samba on a Linux server (Red Hat 8.0), but I have not had any success connecting the other machines to the server. There are a few Windows XP machines and a few OS X.2 machines that need to use the server.
All of the machines can ping the server and vice versa.
I can see the server under the workgroup, but when I try opening the
