winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi, My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory. I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW. wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning, but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are correct) /lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

Samba as Domain Member Server Authentication Problem
I've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain

Half of visible AD user accounts have no info using wbinfo -i, logins fail
I have a Debian server linked to Active Directory for authentication using winbindd. About a month after installation one of the users reported not being able to access a share on this machine. The same user is able to use AD credentials to access all shares on a practically identical second server. I couldn't swear that all config files are identical down to the line, but it is also

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi, our setup is Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA) Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008) The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles are working. However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2 server to users from the SAMBA

Authentication for user -> FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Good day all Newbie problem again... I?ve been setting up a samba box for a few days now and have been quite successful in most respects. I can get the win2000 machines to join the domain and I can see the password being authenticated too. I can even see the shared drives. The problem I?ve having is that after a few log on and log off I can?t seem to logon again. At the win2000 login

Problems configuring samba with pam_mysql auth - NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER / NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hello everyone, First of all...sorry for this monster post, but I have tried to insert every potentially useful information. :) The last days I vainly tried to implement a samba server with MySQL authentication on one of our servers (Debian 2.6.27.5). The server shall provide fileshare services to some Mac clients (OS 10.4.11). Mail is already running with pam_mysql auth against the mail user

AD on 2003R2 NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Dear Help, We are in the process of setting up a new domain using Active Directory on Windows Server 2003R2. One of our goals was to use Active Directory for authentication on our AIX box (running version 6.1). I was able to successfully set up Kerberos, and the LDAP client to connect to our AD server so that you can now log in to the AIX box with users found in Active Directory. However, no

kodi cant access samba shares
Hai Rowland,     Good catch.. ;-) (the ntlm settings)   But first this must be correct. [HEBE]\[firetv]@[LOCALHOST]                   ^^^^^^^^ The user that connect is called firetv? Not kodi?   And what i forgot also, kodi uses NMBD a lot, and Samba AD does not use MBD. So if you need to "Browse the netwerk" setup zeroconf/Avahi also or drop samba AD and use old style

Hello, Beta 3, ./configure --with-ads & krb5, slackware system (no PAM). Things seem to be correctly configured, done the net join part without errors, I can use e.g. smbclient -L or wbinfo -u, but users cannot acces shares on the Samba machine. Password server behaves differently for clients from Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise
Hi, I have been using Samba as a file server and a domain controller in a mixed AIX/Windows environment for a long time. Due to changes in the network infrastructure in my lab, I have to stop using my own LDAP server and Samba domain controller, and migrate all my user accounts to a central proprietary directory server. On AIX, I now use a proprietary loadable authentication module on AIX to talk

Setting up a guest share
Can anyone assist with the following problem I am trying to set up a share on a domain controlled by SAMBA that anyone can access, particularly if they are not part of the domain the machine Samba is running on is joined to or are in another domain. I cannot access this share from a Windows 2008 R2 DC. The samba share is as follows. > [adreg] > comment = registration files
