Cannot remove a file on a GOOD ZFS filesystem
Hello all,
First off, i''m talking about a SXDE build 89. Sorry if that was discussed here before, but i did not find anything related on the archives, and i think is a "weird" issue...
If i try to remove a specific file, i got:
# rm file1
rm: file1: No such file or directory
# rm -rf dir2
rm: Unable to remove directory dir2: Directory not empty
Take a look:

zfs inotify?
OK, so this may be a little off-topic, but here goes:
The reason I switched to OpenSolaris was primarily to take advantage of ZFS''s
features when storing my digital imaging collection.
I switched from a pretty stock Linux setup, but it left me at one
disadvantage. I had been using inotify under Linux to trigger a series of Ruby
scripts that would do all the basic ingestion/setup for

NFS issue with ZFS
I have Solaris 10 U7 that is exporting ZFS filesytem.
The client is Solaris 9 U7.
I can mount the filesytem just fine but I am unable to write to it.
showmount -e shows my mount is set for everyone.
the dfstab file has option rw set.
So what gives?

DNS resolutions is not working in a Solaris 10 DomU
Hi,
I found a problem with the DNS resolution in a Solaris 10 DomU.
The Test Environment was:
I installed the Xen bfu on top of Solaris snv43 and booted the Dom0 with
Solaris. Then I installed and booted a Solaris 10 DomU.
In the Solaris 10 Dom0 the DNS resolution works; in the Solaris 10 DomU
the DNS resolution does not work as expected:
Inside the Solaris 10 DomU I can''t use

pam_smbpass on Solaris box
Hello
I decided to test password migration (on Solaris 8 box with SUNWspro C) and built samba with pam_smbpass module :
CC=cc ./configure --prefix=/opt/local/samba --with-acl-support --with-pam --with-pam_smbpass
Then installed bin/pam_smbpass.so in /usr/lib/security :
# ls -al /usr/lib/security/pam_smbpass.so

If I have the winbind authorization active for telnet in my pam.conf I got
a kick out of the system after exactly 300 sec, no mather if I do or do

local users.
I've trussed a telnet session a the only thing I see is that my

multipl disk failures cause zpool hang
Hi,
There seems to be a few threads about zpool hang, do we have a
workaround to resolve the hang issue without rebooting ?
In my case, I have a pool with disks from external LUNs via a fiber
cable. When the cable is unplugged while there is IO in the pool,
All zpool related command hang (zpool status, zpool list, etc.), put the
cable back does not solve the problem.

Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies?
The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

Back to 3.0.1, Winbind and Solaris 9
I've gone back to 3.0.1 to try and get winbind to work with my Solaris 9
machine and NT4 domain. Everything works except user authentication. The
wbinfo and getent commands do what they are supposed to.
I've included a truss of 'su - ganguly'
According to pamlog, the user 'ganguly' has been granted access but it is
still hanging.
How do I do a truss of a telnet login?

Trying to join a Solaris 8 box to Windows 2000 AD.
I am having major problems with SAMBA samba-3.0alpha20 in trying to connect
to
Windows 2000 AD. I have attached info if that helps. Any help you can give
me
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I can get samba-3.0alpha20 working if I include reference to our NT PDC
in the smb.conf file and do a net rpc join command.
This joins our NT PDC domain which has a trust

Motherboard for home zfs/solaris file server
Hello,
I am building a home file server and am looking for an ATX mother board
that will be supported well with OpenSolaris (onboard SATA controller,
network, graphics if any, audio, etc). I decided to go for Intel based
boards (socket LGA 775) since it seems like power management is better
supported with Intel processors and power efficiency is an important
factor. After reading several

relationship between ARC and page cache
One thing I''ve been confused about for a long time is the relationship
between ZFS, the ARC, and the page cache.
We have an application that''s a quasi-database. It reads files by
mmap()ing them. (writes are done via write()). We''re talking 100TB of
data in files that are 100k->50G in size (the files have headers to tell
the app what segment to map, so mapped chunks

Hi Joey,
interesting setup! Do you use it (the arm) to monitor the UPS and send
notifications...
I've sadly not much time to investigate, but have you tested the latest trunk?
also, you mention that it was working before: which nut version? what
has changed since?
