Samba4 oplocks: LibreOffice and Word file locking
Hi
Lan with S4 and built-in file server for Windows clients. nfs for Linux
clients.
We are using LibreOffice to share documents and file locking works fine.
The first guy to open the doc gets the lock and a message is displayed
on other clients (windows or Linux) that the file is open.
Fine
Some users must however use Word 2010 to edit documents. Then file
locking doesn't work: anyone

Asttapi for Asterisk 1.2 Testers Needed (was RE: Asterisk TAPI - Outlook click2dial)
I've finished a patched version of asttapi that will work with asterisk
1.2. There were fundamental changes to the Asterisk Management
interface between 1.0 and 1.2 that broke asttapi. I think my patched
version will work on 1.0 and 1.2 branches, but I have no way of testing
since I don't have a 1.0 install nor do I want one :).
I'm looking for testers, if anyone's willing to

Asttapi for Asterisk 1.2 Testers Needed (was RE:Asterisk TAPI - Outlook click2dial)
Had I have been smart originally I would have done this to start. Some
rudimentary documentation above and beyond Asttapi 0.10's poor
documentation is available along with the download at
http://www.kirkhamsystems.com/asttapi.

Basic SAMBA setup
Hi,
I want to setup a simple SAMBA file server, in its most simple configuration
first, and then fine-tune that gradually. I've never worked with SAMBA before,
so I based myself on Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook", chapter XX: SAMBA.
Here's what I did, following the step-by-step instructions and reading the
explanations as to what-does-what:
# mkdir -m 777 /shares

Intermittent <MRxSMB; W50:> "Delayed Write Failed" when writing to Office 2007's "Recent Files" index.dat on a network share
We're in the process of upgrading our WinXP SP3 users to Office 2007 on
a network where %APPDATA% is on a Samba 3.2.5 network share, and our
testing users are getting dialogged approximately once a day with the
message "Delayed Write Failed : Windows was unable to save all the data

creation of objects
Hi there,
I'm a new R user and I've got a little problem:
I would like to read several files at once (which works) and create R
objects for each individual file (which doesen't work) within a loop:
this is the way I've tried to program this:
fn<-list.files(path =
"/home/klimet/patrick/LAEGEREN/NEBEL/FOGEVENT2000/", pattern=NULL,
all.files=FALSE, full.names=FALSE)

win2k/samba problem
I am unable to see my samba server from my Win2k Pro machine.
Can someone please help me out? I had a problem with Samba early on. The
problem was resoved by removing TCP/IP from my Win2k machine and then
reinstalling TCP/IP. Now I've stumbled into this problem.
The following error is repeated over and over in my event viewer:

Need SMB server / client tuning help
Greetings!!
I am seeking your help to resolve a problem I am facing with the network
throughput of an SMB share.
We have two SMB shares: one containing files which are bigger in size and
the other containing a large number of small files. Both share sizes are in
terabytes.
While mapping the SMB share with large files on a Windows host and copying
files and directories, we observe a good network
