Problems with idmap_adex module
Hi Guys, I'm having problems getting the new idmap_adex module to work. When using the idmap_adex plugin I get the following: # wbinfo -n administrator S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-500 User (1) # wbinfo -i administrator Could not get info for user administrator As expected attempting to lookup user & group info via commands which use libnss also fail. winbind confused about the DC's
Hi Problems with wbinfo this time. With -u/-g/-n it works, but -i doesn't. The log.winbindd-idmap is filled with this: [2010/01/28 10:32:56, 4] libsmb/namequery_dc.c:73(ads_dc_name) ads_dc_name: domain=* [2010/01/28 10:32:56, 3] libsmb/namequery.c:1972(get_dc_list) get_dc_list: preferred server list: ", *" [2010/01/28 10:32:56, 3] libads/dns.c:343(dns_send_req)

idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains? In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain. When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists

Cannot retrieve user/group information
Hi all, I have done a fair bit of searching of the mailing list archives, google and the manual, but have not had any luck as yet. I apologize for the length of this e-mail, but I thought it was better to provide what I could right off the bat instead of waiting to be asked for it. I am having the following oddity with a new samba server: I have it configured to talk to an

Problem with Samba-3.0.25rc3 & idmap_ldap (winbind dumps core)
In an effort to improve my lot, I'm trying to move to a ldap backend for idmap synchronization when I deploy the new 3.0.25 version on my systems. In preparation for this, I've set up some test systems -- where I'm having some problems that I think others may be encountering (according to a few comments I've seen recently). In a nutshell, I believe I have set up my ldap

idmap_nss: Default domain not being used
I have an existing PDC which I am attempting to move across to a new server. On the new server, I'm having trouble with idmap (using an LDAP backend) and trusted domains. The smb.conf file is the same on both servers. My idmap & winbind parameters are as follows: ldap idmap suffix = ou=idmap idmap backend = ldap:ldap://127.0.0.1 idmap uid = 10000-29000 idmap gid = 10000-29000 winbind

samba server in Microsoft Domain, many errors in logs
hi all, i'm not expert with Samba integration into domain. I did setup many servers acting with local auth that were running very fine. We've a Windows 2008 acting as Domain controller. So to not create more login/password to users, i decided to authenticate using Active Directory. The shares work, but sometimes users failed to access. The server is running Debian stable Lennny. The

Winbind/AD/NFSv4: can't `ls/cd` private directory?
Hello everyone, We have a CentOS 6.3 NFSv4 server and client, and we've run into a situation where the client is unable to list "private" (chmod 700-ed) directories, even if the current user owns the directory in question. A bit more background: we're also using Samba 3.5+Winbind to provide authentication and UID/GID mapping against a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller.

Hello Samba Users, I cannot change a user's Samba password from a Windoze client or from the Unix Samba server when "unix password sync = True". Any ideas what/where I screwed up? default_mail_env auto-detect woes for maildir users
Hello-- I am a fairly new dovecot user and have run into a problem. I am running dovecot 1.0alpha5 (built from source) on a Fedora Core 1 machine. The system has about 400 users with over 80 IMAP users, and we have just transitioned from UW-IMAP. Thus all users are currently still mbox users. I would like to transition them to maildir users (this was the main point for me switching servers), and

Winbind 3.0.25-pre2 problems with sid2uid
Hi, I have tested winbind in samba-3.0.25-pre2 and encountered some problems. We have a working config with Linux samba-3.0.23d and W2k3 AD R2 rfc2307bis, but when I switch to 3.0.25 it stopped working. I am not quite familiar with the new configuration directives for idmap, but the old config did not work either with 3.0.25, so I tried to use the new ones. Is there apparent errors in my config

Samba and OS X 10.4.2 - vfs quota inheritance not correct
We're running Samba 3.0.20 on a Solaris 9 server, using the Blastwave build. smb.conf file is below. Our user homes are on a Veritas file system with vxquota enabled, usually 50M per user, and then users have links under their home dirs to file systems with larger quotas or no quotas. For example, /home/joeuser has a 50M vxquota, but /home/joeuser/aux is a softlink to /vol/aux on which
