Hola! I started to search for information about multilevel survival models, and found frailty in R. This seems to be something of the same, is it the same? Then: why the name frailty (weekness?) -- Kjetil Halvorsen. Peace is the most effective weapon of mass construction. -- Mahdi Elmandjra

RE : OOT : Puzzling
Hi, It is not a Samba issue, but a RH9 one. Try to replace in /etc/sysconfig/i18n the default charset utf8 to something easier (and faster) to handle for the system (look at the same file on your RH73). SMS Gateway .... for Rails app? (a bit OOT)
I''m simply looking for a SMS gateway... The ones like what Twitter uses... The intended audience would be globally. Some of you would have used them and I''d really appreciate if you could share your experience. I''ve Googled and the problem isn''t that there is none, the problem is that there are simply too many. Almost like looking for a webhosting. So human

OOT: Advice on failover rsync setup
Hi all, I have a task on setting up a cluster of 2 servers for providing ftp service. We use RH's Cluster suite. However the cluster setup is lack of shared network storage, so the /var/ftp/pub is mounted on each server. The cluster is set with Master and Slave configuration (when the master is down, slave serves. and when master is up again, slaves gives up the service back to master). We

LogicMail for Blackberry and Dovecot
FYI - I just had a great interaction with the developer of this software. LogicMail for Blackberry is a true IMAP/POP client for Blackberry, which wasn't working correctly with Dovecot's IMAP. I merely posted in the sourceforge forums and got a VERY fast response with a working fix. http://logicmail.sourceforge.net/ Unfortunately I'm not a Blackberry user, but I know IMAP

Blackberry simulator "sort of works"
http://www.slashdev.ca/2008/03/27/blackberry-simulator-in-linux-sort-of/ says the blackberry simulator kind of works in wine. It's freely downloadable from http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/downloads/simulators.jsp in case anyone wants to triage the bugs...

Thanks to all who responded on Blackberry & IMAP
Many good suggestions and comments. But while I was trying to do it right (silly me), the brass hat got it working with whatever is on the phone and I am told that everything is fine (until it isn't). Dovecot upgrades break Blackberry instant email (BIS)
Hello, Just like when upgrading to 1.2, upgrading to 2.0.1 confuses RIM's BIS servers and users don't have instant email anymore on their Blackberrys. Under normal conditions, the BIS servers keep one open connection per email account with Dovecot. They're using IMAP IDLE to monitor changes and push them to devices very quickly. After an upgrade, all changes. The BIS servers can't

Does anyone have clients using blackberrys to access their emails on a dovecot server? If so are there any gotcha's that I need to configure in dovecot for this to work? Question: contention with blackberry
My production imap is currently UWIMAP with mbox.. One of the problems commonly observed is mailbox lock loss, which happens when: a) a VIP has multiple secretaries accessing a single mailbox (actually, they are professional enough to have figured the realities of conflicting access and rarely have a problem), b) somebody leaving their machine on at home and coming in and firing up their work

Help! OT: Blackberry IMAP client suggestions/experience needed
The CFO of our college, a most formidable man, had decided to go Blackberry and Something Functional Must Be Done. We've had some users who we've not supported (and things got better for them when we switched from UWIMAP to Dovecot). BB, of course, has their half-baked sorta-IMAP-compliant client (and we do NOT want the BB Enterprise Server) that persistently keeps grabbing the
