Samba PDC LDAP: Got too many (2) info entries for domain
Hello there. I'm currently configuring a Samba PDC LDAP Master Server and two Samba BDC LDAP Slave Servers with slurpd replication service over Debian 3.1 Sarge and Samba 3.0.22. I'm trying to fix a problem related with the info domain entry. When I execute the "net getlocalsid [Domain]" in the PDC server, I receive the following response: # net getlocalsid [domain] [2006/04/16

Fwd: RE: Problems 'make'ing on Solaris 9/10
On Solaris 10 (x86), trying to compile samba 3.5.2 I have downloaded GCC 3.4.x., make, binutils (ld etc) and sed from Sunfreeware. GCC (gcc -v) has /usr/ccs/bin/ld hardcoded so the only way around it was to symlink to the gnu one. # mv /usr/ccs/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld.1 # ln -s /usr/local/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld # ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/talloc-2.0.1 When setting some

Upgrade of Samba from 4.4.6 to 4.5.4
Hello, I have an Ubuntu 14.04 server with Samba 4.4.6 and a BIND DLZ backend that I’ve downloaded, configured and installed from source. I’ve downloaded the source for Samba 4.5.4, compiled and installed, and now Samba won’t launch. If I try to run samba, I get the following error: samba: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwbclient.so.0: version `WBCLIENT_0.13' not found (required by

Why (&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE))?
I have a member server that is constantly querying the LDAP server with - (&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE)) - when security=domain and workgroup=backbone. The server DOES authenticate domain users, and everything seems to work, but this draining resources. This is RH9, Samba 3.0.3pre2 (although I'm pretty certain I saw this on 3.0.2) and OpenLDAP openldap-2.1.25-1

Advice on Winbindd and NTLM Auth Performance
Hi Rowland, The only thing I'm using is winbindd the smbd and nmbd daemons are disabled. However I have now found the bottleneck is because freeradius is calling the ntlm_auth binary and effectively forking out. The guys at freeradius wrote a direct client libwbclient however their is no way of specifying the winbind privileged path using that method as it's hardcoded during compile

samba 4.4rcx WINS nsswitch module
WINS nsswitch module -------------------- The WINS nsswitch module has been rewritten to address memory issues and to simplify the code. The module now uses libwbclient to do WINS queries. This means that winbind needs to be running in order to resolve WINS names using the nss_wins module. This does not affect smbd. my problem: old versions >> ping google.com >> PING google.com
