Roaming profile problems - XP profiles not being saved (Windows 7 profiles work)
Ever since I upgraded Samba from 3.0.x to 3.4.x, and reconfigured it to
support Windows 7 clients, I am having issues with roaming profiles on my
Windows XP clients.
All the machines have been rejoined to the domain, domain authentication
appears to be working fine, the home drive is mounted ok, and the profile
information is even read, but never updated upon logout. A user with no
profile will

Windows 10 anniversary update (1607) causing profile sync errors
Hello,
Strangely, the profile sync error is gone now on that machine.
But just to be safe, we're rejecting the 1607 updates with our WSUS.
It will give me more time to investigate the problem. We'll probably
sticking with 1511 in our teaching labs until summer 2017.
Sorry I can't help more...
Cheers, Luc.

W2KSP2 Profile and 2.2.2 hell...
I recently got suckered into upgrading to SP2 by Microsoft's auto update
program.
Since this broke profiles I upgraded to 2.2.2.
In the process of upgrading I set up the Profiles share and tried to move my
profile into it.
Unfortunately W2K insisted on trying to log in with the profile still in my
home directory where nt acl support was not disabled. In an attempt to
coerce it into looking

sudden loss of password validation
The problem: Strangely, the PDC rejects user password challenges from Samba.
The user account gets locked. After unlocking the account, everything is
back to normal. This happens several times a day to different users and from
different Samba servers. All Samba servers have the same [global]
configuration.
Is this a Samba problem? Is samba perhaps not passing along the correct
password? If I add

Caution: "admin users" and roaming profiles
This is information that might be useful to others, as it drove me nuts
until I could figure it out what I did incorrectly.
I recently installed the 3.0beta and moved everything from 2.2.8a. I'm
still in testing mode, so I rejoined the domain the the few test machines,
and have been deleting and rebuilding test user profiles as I check things
out.
The problem I had occurred with the

Data loss (corruption with rsync)
Hello,
I just rsync'd my 1TB partitions formated with jfs filesystem
containing ~720GB data. I saw -3G difference between source and
destination which made me suspect possible dataloss. Also I had
experienced loss of integrity on my previous copies but I did not find
the cause until now.
As command line I used following:
sh-3.2# rsync --verbose --sparse --append-verify --fuzzy --progress

NT4 profiles won't load after upgrade to 2.2.8
Hi
I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this. I've upgraded
two machines from RedHat 7.2s default 2.2.1 RPM of Samba to an RPM of
2.2.8 compiled from the source RPM on the samba download site. One
server has XP clients and this has no problems. The other has a mix of
Windows 95/98 and NT4. The 95/98 clients worked fine but the NT4
machines both had to be removed from and

xp profiles and samba 3.0
How can an xp machine on a samba domain rejoin the domain without having
remote profile problems? When I do a windows logon to the domain after
the pc has rejoined, my old profile is moved to profile.domain, and a
new profile is then copied from the samba domain controller. Why? After
that, some xp things don't pick up with the new profile.

loss of group permissions on created Directories when using vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr
Hi All,
I'm hoping you can help, I've recently built a Samba server on Ubuntu 16.04lts and bound it to our AD for security. This server was created to support a small number of Mac users who also authenticate via AD but still allow general Windows client access as well.
The problem I have is the video editing software they require makes use of the 'vfs objects = catia fruit

two MGE Ellipse 1500 ups via usb
Hi,
I've got two MGE Ellipse 1500 UPS connected via usb to an ubuntu
jaunty system with nut and libupsclient1 2.4.1-2ubuntu4.
As soon as I start the driver for the second one, they start fighting
each other and I get no data. I found an older post to this list that
said: If you want to monitor multiple UPSes through usbhid-ups, you
*must* make sure that each one can be uniquely identified

3.10.5 vs 3.12.0 huge performance loss
Serkan,
Will it be possible to provide gluster volume profile <volname>
info output with 3.10.5 vs 3.12.0? That should give us clues about what
could be happening.

Opus inband FEC performance with bursty loss?
Hi all,
Newbie to the group.
Just started using Opus as part of a WebRTC project and amazed by the versatility of the codec. Great stuff!!!!
I have been trying to understand the performance of Opus inband FEC in the presence of bursty loss. Although I do not have exact characterization of the loss profile, we are seeing issues over WiFi. RTCP reports about 33% loss, but I am guessing a lot of it

User Data / Profiles / Permission / Mappings Loss from Samba to Samba Migration
We have completed a migration from one Samba server to another Samba.
The versions and binaries are exactly the same. The only difference
between the two configs is that the original Samba server used LDAP for
authentication and the new Samba server uses the flat files for
authentication (smbpasswd file).
Here is the problem: On a Windows 2000 file server, we have folder
shares. Users can log on

I don't know if it is related, but i was forced to add to smb.conf:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY TCP_KEEPIDLE=240 TCP_KEEPCNT=4 TCP_KEEPINTVL=15
because profile disconnection was 'too quick',

Showing hotness in LLVM optimization remarks using AutoFDO sampling profile data?
Hello!
(+cc Adam Nemet, since he presented on optimization remarks at LLVM Dev Mtg
2016)
I have a large C++ program, which I am compiling using a sampling profile
generated via perf and AutoFDO. I'd like to use this profile in order to
show the hotness of each code path that is displayed in the new
optimization remarks viewer tool (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq0q1hfzidg).

Multiple versions of group profile?
Hi all,
I want to setup a domain environment for about 1000 users,
all of them are in the same primary group called "student".
A mandatory profile is used to serve them all by pointing
the profile directory to something like /%G in smb.conf.
Now, because of language problem, users need to use
two language interfaces of windows (and MS Office). I found
that switching the language
