I did search and found other folks with this issue but I didn't see a solution to my specific issue: I am running Samba 3.4.7 on ubuntu 10.04 LTS server configured to authenticate to active directory via Kerberos and LDAP for use with clients from OS X and Windows (no linux clients) On the advice of my local active directory team Winbind has been uninstalled and everything works nicely except

I've had the following setup working for years now. Subnet A contains linux/windows workstations along with the PDC+LDAP. Subnet B contains a BDC+LDAP and a domain member on the file server that windows users connect too. Whats new is I'm setting up a new domain member in Subnet B. It has joined the domain and net getdomainsid works. From machines in Subnet B I can run smbclient -L and

Samba 4.17 AD Cannot connect to shares as administrator
Hi, I encountered a strange problem...some of my windows machines cannot be joined to an Samba 4.17 AD domain (8 of ~90 clients). These are 7 Win7 clients and one WinXP client. Samba, OpenLDAP and Windows Vista
I have a Samba server set up to share files within a small network (with 2 clients) and I use OpenLDAP to store user accounts. I have pretty much got everything working (smbclient prints the correct information and I can browse and log into Samba via Nautilus) except I can't get the Vista client to connect to Samba, as it won't even prompt for a username and password it simply pops up

Samba 4.17 Cannot join Win7 clients to domain
Hi Davor, thanks for the answer. They were actually part of a NT4 domain called mayweg.net (the new realm name). But I did join workgroup "WORKGROUP" before I tried to join the new domain. If it's possible that they're sending the information the wrong way because they were part of a workgroup named after the new realm, is there any way to clear the old data (apart from a new

Samba 4.17 Cannot join Win7 clients to domain
Hi Davor, most of the domain accounts were part of an old NT4 domain. I did a classicupgrade. Your theory with the NTUSER.DAT-files seemed so promising, unfortunately that was not it. I created new accounts on an XP machine and a Win7 machine and tried to join with them, but still receive the same error. One of the machines I'm not able to join with, wasn't even part of the domain

Windows 7 only connects if joined to the domain
I'm running 3.4.6 (was running 3.0.28a but upgraded in hopes to fix this issue). Clients running Windows 7 that are NOT joined to the AD domain (samba authenticates against it via "security = server") cannot authenticate to access the server. Clients running Windows 7 that are on the domain as well as Windows XP, Windows 2003 on and off the domain work as expected. Any help would

Connectivity issues with Samba 3.0.24 on Aix 6.1
Hi Andrew, Thanks a lot for the prompt response. This is the same initial setup being used from more than 3 years, no one of the users reported any issues until now as they were able to access the shares with their unix passwords. The share is successfully being accessed from a particular subnet (10.77.*.*) alone with same settings, but not from any other subnets. And there is no firewall in

Windows XP and Samba
We have a local network with Samba 2.0.3 on SuSE-Linux and some Windows 95 and Windows 98 clients. All works fine. Now we have got a new Windows XP computer, and we found no way to connect to the Samba server from that computer. 1. The network card works. I can ping the server, and it replies. 2. The Samba server as well as the Windows XP computer are shown in the network neighbourhood. 3.

Samba 4.17 Cannot join Win7 clients to domain
Hi Davor, I finally found it! After going through https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Client_to_a_Domain , I checked the time settings on said clients and they differed from the AD DC too much. This also explains why some clients could join after a while...they synchronised with a NTP server after a day or so and then I was able to join. After that, joining the rest of clients was
