WERR_ACCESS_DENIED trying to set printer driver in samba-3.0.23d
I am having problems getting Pont and Print to work with
samba-3.0.23d, cups and ldap.
I used an XP box to install the windows drivers on the samba server by
adding the drivers in the "Printers and Faxes" section (using the
server properties tab) for the samba server. This part worked fine but
when I want to associate the driver to the printer I get an access

Solution to XP/2000 joining Samba 2.2.x Domain Problem!
I finally found the solution that many people faced about joining a samba
2.2.x domain with XP or 2000
I've recently upgraded a Win98SE to WinXP, and attempt to join this to the
Samba Domain (of ver 2.2.2), which already have 2 Win2000 as member.
However, although the XP accept the Domain Joining, it denied me to log into
the domain after a reboot, so I tried to view the System Event in the

I'm trying to join an XP SP2 PC called testpc to a test environment. Its
network settings are statically set. IP address is 10.8.3.209. I have a
PDC called gomer.mdah.state.ms.us w/ samba 3.0.26a and IP address is
10.8.3.37. On test PC I right click on my computer, properties, computer
name, change from workgroup WORKGROUP to domain ADAMSTEST.
But I get the error:

Windows XP with Samba Ldap.
My Ldap Admin password is correct in secrets.tdb and I can logon in Win
9x, but not in Win XP. The option "RequireSignOrSeal"= dword:00000000
is ok.
The WinXP can found the Samba Domain, but not the user/password. When I
logon in Network place the password is correct and I can view the user
files.
Any ideas why I cannot logon in Win XP ?
Thank's.

Initially windows roaming profile was not configured. At that time,

Old SAMBA and WinXP....
Ok,
here's a simple question, (I just rejoined this list so apologies if it has
been asked a million times before).
Our Company runs SAMBA 1.9-18p1 from a USS (Unix System Services) on an IBM
Mainframe.
I used to have WinNT 4.0, and I could access Files on Windows Explorer
through SAMBA with no problems.
Now I updated one of my workstations to WinXP Pro., and - no access to the

Windows XP connects as guest instead of letting me choose the username / password
Hi,
I suspect this is more of a WinXP issue, but since it drives me mad,
I'll ask anyway.
What I want:
In Windows XP network neighborhood, select my samba server, select one
of the shares, then have a dialog asking me for the respective
Samba-username & -password to access the share.
What I get:
I get a dialog with the username "Guest", greyed out, asking me for a

Samba + XP = no go
G'day.
I'm having a great time trying to get a whole heap of XP workstations (from
what I understand, they've been hotfixed+windows updated+whatever else a few
days ago) to authenticate against Samba running on a FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE box.
Basically, I add user accounts, machine accounts (with both "pw" and
"smbpasswd"), then I can get the XP machines to successfully
