Norton IS preventing Samba workgroup from appearing in W2K browse
I know this isn't a samba configuration issue, but I'm hoping someone might have encountered this problem before and knows the solution. I just installed a Buffalo LinkStation (Linux Samba NAS) on my network and was atempting to set up a shared printer. I have three systems. All are W2K. One uses BlackICE, the others use Norton Internet Security 2004. All of the systems, including the

Fedora 11 i386 Evolution address book --> CentOS 5.4 x86_64
Finally moved my home desktop from Fedora to CentOS. My spouse was unhappy with me upgrading from F9-->F10-->f11 etc and wanted something more stable. I built a second machine which is now running in parallel to the old F11 desktop. I moved my data (mail and files) from the F11 box to the CentOS 5.4 box. I used tar to move everything. Mail and files transferred A-OK...but the Evolution

Creating a Fedora 11 DomU
Hi All, I just tried to create a DomU using the following method... (I normally use the Xen install kernel when I create CentOS domus, but when I tried that with the PXE image, that had the same effect as below). This is the first time I have created a Fedora domu in ages... years, even. virt-install \ --paravirt \ --name demo \ --ram 500 \

Slow browsing
Hi, I have recently set up an old machine as a linux fileserver (Intel 815E board with 512MB ram and PIII 800mhz). I am running the latest Fedora Core 5 with the version of samba 3 that ships with that and am exposing a single share for my software raid (4x400gb PATA seagate drives, running from two siig ATA cards so each drive has its own channel) I also have a buffalo 1.0tb terastation

Filenames with "special" characters (äöü€¶) on SMB share of Linkstation HD-HLAN250
Hello! I've got a Buffalo Linkstation HD-HLAN250. This is a consumer NAS device, which makes the built-in HD accessible via SMB and FTP. On that system, some sort of Linux with some sort of Samba is running. I'm now trying to create filenames with special characters (ie. non-ASCII chars) in it. For example "bl?der name" (means "stupid name"). To get access to the

Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the i386 and x86_64 versions. Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

2 TB limit on a samba share
I'm running a server with Centos 3 that I have set up a smbfs share to a Buffalo LinkStation. The LS has 4 drives configured with RAID 5. Each disk has 1 TB capacity, so the resulting drive is approximately 2.7 TB. When doing a df, the result shows 2 TB, and no used blocks. Is there some setting I can change so that Centos sees and uses all 2.7 TB or does Centos 3 not support this? Steve

Installing/running Fedora 10 or Fedora 11 32b Xen domU on CentOS 5.3 x86_64 host/dom0 broken
Hello. Yesterday I tried installing Fedora 10 and Fedora 11 i386 Xen domUs/guests using virt-install and/or virt-manager on CentOS 5.3 Xen x86_64 dom0/host. It doesn't work. The guest kernel crashes early and the graphical VNC console newer shows up. Installing x86_64 domU on x86_64 dom0 work well. 32-on-32 works aswell. So it's a 32-on-64 bug. smbcquotas tells me that "quotas are not enabled"
I have a setup of Ubuntu 8.04 running Samba 3.0.28a. Connected to our network I have a buffalo linkstation acting as Network Attached Storage (NAS), which I have successfully mounted on the local file system. Using smbcquotas I believe I can set up a quota for each user on the NAS. To get started, I run the command: smbcquotas //192.168.1.4/share -S FSQFLAGS:QUOTA_ENABLED -A

Cannot cross-compile 3.0.20b from i686 to mipsel
Hi. I'm trying to compile 3.0.20b on my i686 host to run on a mipsel host. For this, I got a cross compile toolchain from <http://linkstationwiki.org/Projects/CrossToolchains>. The toolchain is installed at /usr/local/linkstation/gcc-3.3.5-glibc-2.3.2/mipsel-hdhlan-linux I ran configure with the help of a little wrapper script: version=gcc-3.4.4-glibc-2.3.5

Dovecot causing hanging on random folders...
I've been using the 1.0 test series (currently 1.0test 67 and before that 1.0-test59) and both exhibited this issue.. I use Thunderbird and will open one or two of my nested Maildir folders via imap and find that it goes out there trying to open the folder (according to the messages that Thunderbird claims) and it never comes back.. I've attached to the various dovecot processes to

Can't get share to show up on windows
I have successfully set of two Samba servers under Red Hat Linux 6.0 and 9.0. I am having trouble getting Samba 3.0 Fedora Linux Samba to show up on the windows machine. I can't find the solution in either of the two books that I bought, or the online resources after spending several days working on this. I only need a relatively simple network, yet I also want it to be reasonably secure.

Hello! Xen and related packages (libvirt, virt-install, virt-manager etc) in Upcoming CentOS 5.3 support running and installing Fedora 10 (and Fedora 11) paravirtual domU guest virtual machines. These upstream fixes (new features) make it possible: "RHEL5.3 xen: include support for booting Fedora 10 DomU (i.e. bzImage support)" https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457199
