Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid
kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the
i386 and x86_64 versions.
Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

Trouble adding machine accounts
I'm not able to add machine account(specifically Samba member servers)
to my Samba 3.0 Domain. When I try to run 'net rpc join' and provide
the root credentials, I get 'NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER' in the output. My
domain database is in LDAP and root is a local unix user. I know auth
works, because 'net rpc info' works. It seems there's a problem

Clarification of 'administrator' config w/ldap
I have a mostly working config with the ldap backend, at least from
the standpoint of standard domain users, but I'm not sure how my
Administrator user needs to be configured. The os 'root' user is in
/etc/passwd and all my normal users are in the directory for unified
login purposes. Is the domain 'Administrator' account supposed to
correspond to 'root' in the os,

\\FILESERVER is not accessible. Access is Denied
I got it so my logfile no longer complains about invalid user. I was creating a machine trust account but not an actual user account. I am still having 2 problems.
When i attempt to log onto the domain at bootup I put in my username and password and select DARCSTAR for the domain to log onto and it tells me almost instantly:

Access Denied, Roaming Profile -- no apparent reason...
Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8 & Windows XP.
When logging on to machine 'A' one of my users gets an "Access Denied"
message for a particular cookie file -- 'statse'. When logging on to
another machine ('B'), there is no problem.
I have tried, when logged in as administrator (mapped to root on the
server), to read the cookie file on both machines. Machine 'A'

smbldap-populate problem
I am trying to merge our addressbook, courier-imap, postfix, and samba PDC
entries into a single ldap directory.
I have vampired all the data from our current PDC to use for testing and
it seems that everything is merged and works.
I am writing the docs and I have, for the first time, tried to run
smbldap-useradd for a user who is both a posix user and windows user.
I got an error that the next

Problems joining domain w/ Samba 3.0.0 PDC and LDAP backend
Hi,
By going through various HOWTOS and faqs, I have been able to clone our
current, working Samba 2.2.7a implementation and upgrade it to samba
3.0.0. Unfortunately I'm unable to get a Windows machine to join the
domain.
Looking at the ldap logs, it looks up all userinfo apparently correctly
but I get an "access denied" error when using my own account (which is

Vampire Migrate NT4 to Samba-LDAP PDC. Access error
Hi,
I'm a informatics engineering student and I am working on a factory placement which consists of migrating an NT4 based network upon Red Hat Linux AS 3.
I took the manual from www.samba.org <http://www.samba.org/> and adapted the variables as suitable for my case.
The only one moment where I cannot carry on anymore is when I am supposed to use net rpc vampire on the PDC.

Inter. between Samba 2.2.x and 3.x w/ LDAP backend (and another changes)
Hi all,
I have a network that are composed at this way:
- Samba 2.2.8a PDC

- Some Samba 2.2.8a as MS
- OpenLDAP 2.1 as backend (w/ Samba2 schema)
We are planning some changes, including change the domain name. For this, we planning to setup the new Samba 3 domain on the same environment as the Samba 2, and sharing the same backend using the ldapsam_compat feature. After the

File/directory renaming denied but write access is okay with Samba/LDAP PDC
Hello List,
i recently re-setup our Samba/LDAP PDC. I have the following problem
now: The shares "lehre" and "public" are writeable, but i cannot
rename files/folders on it from Windows (getting an access denied
message in Explorer) - however, my user can rename the files manually
by logging into the PDC with his account, so permissions seem to be
okay. These problems

Domain logons w/ LDAP backend
Hi,
I have multiple Samba servers working very well using the tdbsam
backend. The number of servers is becoming harder to manage now so I
began testing an LDAP-based Samba server. Everything works great
except when a workstation tries to login to the domain...
All users are able to login just fine when accessing network shares.
Workstation are able to join the domain. But upon reboot,

SID in Explorer Owner Field using LDAP
Hello! I'd appreciate any help on this as I am stumped.
I have 4 servers running Samba.
The First is Acting as a PDC with roaming profile logons as well as an
LDAP server. I am using the smbldap-tools to administer the two.
That works great.
I also have 3 other network file servers that are mapped to use LDAP
from the PDC for posix account info. I set the smb.conf on each of them

Member server with LDAP backend?
On my new samba file server I want to use security=domain, authenticating
against an NT4 PDC. The file server will also server nfs requests to my
UNIX clients.
Current UNIX accounts exist in LDAP (objectClass=posixAccount).
Current NT accounts live in NT domain.
All UNIX users have an associated account in the NT domain (same username).
Few NT users have UNIX accounts.
I have setup nfs on the
