cifs fix and smb3 protocol status.
Hai,
( not all on samba topic but one i wanted to share. )
I did read : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/LinuxCIFSKernel
mainly because of, from that page,

Fix badlock regression for guest mounts (mount with -o guest can fail to Samba servers when patched for badlock).
I encountered such a problem yesterday. Luckly not in the office..
The fix.

I bought a netgear ready nas nv+ and enabled a few cifs shares.

mount.cifs with "sec=ntlmv2" fails ("mount error(22): Invalid argument")
Hello, everyone,
I'm trying to mount a CIFS share served by Samba using mount.cifs with NTLMv2
authentication.
According to 'man mount.cifs' the option "sec=ntlmv2" should be supported, but it
keeps giving me "mount error(22): Invalid argument".
The Samba server enforces the use of NTLMv2. When allowing for NTLMv1 on both sides
everything works just fine.

Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5
Help -
(I'm new to the list, so please be gentle) I've tried Seagate support, and Apple Forums with no resolution or adequate suggestions for troubleshooting/resolving this issue, so I thought I'd try the samba community. It's a bit esoteric for me/most Mac users (SMB shares under Max OS X), but I thought I'd give it a try.
I can no longer mount any shares from my Seagate

Hello,
We have `some` problems related to the samba daemon, or possibly with
the Linux kernel CIFS filesystem.
We have 2 server (for this example):

3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4) with ldap authentication.
- - Client, running Linux 2.6.24 as a XEN domU. This server mounts on

CIFS, Samba 3.0.23d and file locking
Mrs.;
I have a 16-bits Cobol program running at Novell 5.1.
I'm migrating the whole network (around 150 terminais) to Linux + LTS
processing DOSEMU into cluster and making a storage server just for data.
My surprise last week was that the smbfs client for Linux doesn't support
the file locking, after googling, found that a solution would be to use
CIFS instead SMB and upgrading the

msdfs samba client - Linux CIFS Client
Hello,
my company recently changed the stucture of some shares (Win2000). Since
then, we are not able to access these shares from Linux/Solaris anymore.
I tried smbmount and smbclient and can access the top-level directory of
the share and see the directory structure, but I can't see any data inside
these directories.
A few days ago, someone told me that msdfs is used for the new structure

I have a shared folder with 33GB of data (mostly 3-5MB files, approx. 10,500
files total) on a Windows 2000 server. If I mount it using smbfs I can see
all of the files and directories in the share's root but when entering into
sub-directories some will appear empty (allthough they are not), or fewer
than all of the files will be visible.
If I use smbclient to connect, all of the files,

CIFS mount not applying setuids
Hello all,
I've been dealing with this problem for years now and I am a bit fed
up with it. Maybe some of you all can shed some light on the situation.
I am having problems with my samba server setting the
uid/gid/permissions incorrectly when a file is written to the server
filesystem over cifs. I currently use the account remotemounter for
mounting samba shares. Even with the

CentOS 5.0 crash (cifs bug ?)
Hi
I think I hit the cifs bug described at
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares
and
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1776
As CentOS Wiki said, CentOS 5.0 do have a bug fixed cifs.ko, so I thought it
should be in CentOSPlus repository ... so I upgrade my kernel and using
2.6.18-8.1.10.el5.centos.plus. After I use this kernel release, I
check the cifs.ko
and see the following:
