Group not updating - Active Directory Auth with Winbind - Is there a way to make it update?
Hi Guys, I have a machine setup to auth over AD with winbind and it's working fine. However, I just added a user to a group on my Windows box in AD, when I am logged into Linux and i id the user it does not show the group I just added the user to. Is there a way of forcing it to update? I have tried restarting winbind and samba. Many Thanks

Problem with users (authing over Active Directory) not being about to run software, but local users can.
Hi Guys, I have a CentOS box running with Active Directory Authentication via winbind and that is working fine. When users login for the first time their home dir's are created in /home/%DOMAIN%/ which is also working fine. Now, they have installed a bit of commercial software on the CentOS server which works fine for all the local users but not the users logging in via Active Directory

Backing up Xen DomU''s - Tape Drive - LVM
Hi, I am planning the roll out of a Xen dom0 running CentOS that is going to be running two DomU''s CentOS and Windows 2003 SBS. I am planning on using LVM for the disks as this (so i have read) increases i/o performance compared to image files. I need a solution to back up these machines and I have came up with the following two ideas: Idea 1, Backup the machines as images (lvm

samba-tool user create - how to get next available uid from active directory
You can check the wiki page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Administer_Unix_Attributes_in_AD_via_ADUC#Defining_the_next_UID.2FGID_to_use which describes how to manually get / change the value. SQL + AUTH command bug?
Hi, While investigating the problem with Thunderbird auths I found the following happening: Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. CAPA +OK CAPA TOP USER UIDL RESP-CODES PIPELINING SASL PLAIN . AUTH PLAIN + + + -ERR Authentication failed. This is what is happening during a Thunderbird connection, when each '+' happens dovecot does an sql query on the sql server for user

PAM, Active Directory, all users mapped to uid=0
I'm having a problem with authentication using PAM, connected on the back end to Active Directory. PAM authentication itself works fine. We can log in to the machine using AD credentials without any problems. Each user is automatically mapped to uid's in the 10000+ range. However, for some reason when the user logs in via dovecot, the user's uid and gid are showing up as 0. For

Retrieving UNIX UID/GID directly through Active Directory
Hi, there's a bug on bugzilla.samba.org that I'd like to comment on but it's not letting me. It's bug #242, titled "Retrieving UNIX UID/GID directly through Active Directory from schema extension" The person who posted the request talks about using AD4Unix, but I've installed Microsoft's Services for Unix and it made similar schema changes. Specifically, it

uid/gid not being used when logging into RHEL -> Windows Server 2012 Active Directory
I am using samba/winbind to connect a RHEL5.8 linux box to a new Windows Server box which has Unix Identity Mapping installed. So I have all the uidNumber/gidNumber stuff in the windows schema. I am able to login but I am not getting the right uid/gid. My AD uids start at around 800. FYI I am new to winbind. Apparently the ID mapping has changed again in samba 3.6 but I'm not really

apache mod_authnzldap against Active Directory
Hey guys I am running CentOS 5 with httpd 2.2.3 I am trying to configure mod_authnzldap authing against Active Directory and I have it working about 50% of the time. About 50% of the time this works with no issue, the rest of the time it fails. Sometimes it fails and notes the following in the error log: [Mon Oct 22 15:58:03 2007] [debug] mod_authnz_ldap.c(373): [client 10.XXX.XX.XXX]

Manual UID & GID mapping with Active Directory
Greetings, I'm looking how I can set manually the GID & UID of my Active Directory users into Samba & Winbind. I have several server linux using Samba and they are linked to Active Directory to get users & groups. On all my Linux system I did a "net join ads". Also I set this option in all smb.conf: idmap uid = 20000-30000 idmap gid =

Active directory and winbind RID/SID to uid and gid maping across several linux servers
We are using a windows server 2003 active directory as our single sign on server. I have been able to get our RHEL4U6 servers to authenticate with active directory. My concern is that the RID mapping to unix uid/gid range (15000-20000) is stored locally on each machine in a tdb database. So far all of the servers have produced the same mapping, but I do not think it is guarantied. I think the

High CPU While Loading RSAT Active Directory Users and Computers
Hello, I'm trying to figure out a problem with our AD DC with the FSMO roles, name DC1. When starting the Windows RSAT Active Directory Users and Computers program against DC1 it takes about 90 seconds to load. A samba process on the server is at 100% CPU while waiting for it to load. Once loaded the CPU goes back to normal. When connecting the Active Directory Users and Computers program

Samba, id, uid, Active Directory and CentOS 5
I have some CentOS 5 systems that are part of an Active Directory Windows 2003 domain (using natively configured files - not likewise open). getent passwd my_account reveals uid and gid are both 10000:10000. Thus, typing: % id reveals a uid of 10000. /etc/passwd does NOT have my local account created - credentials are strictly from the Active Directory domain. The username is of the format

Remote auth against Active Directory
I've got a new CentOS 7 server going into a remote location. I have local servers that authenticate against Active Directory (2012 if it matters) using winbindd. I'd like to have some method of using AD on the remote server, but I need to be able to access it if the network path to the AD servers is down. sssd caching won't do AFAIK (since that's just a cache that times out).
