Hi together,
after joining Samba 4.1.6 into our domain with 2 MS Win2008 R2 DCs on last Friday, we had got 2 accidents:
1. one of our users couldn't access his Exchange account any more (the relation to the correct mailbox database was empty)
2. Exchange 2010 Outlook Web Access (OWA) fails today on Monday with following error message:

[tftp-hpa] [PATCH] support for named pipes
Attached is a patch for the latest tftp-hpa.
This patch add support for named pipes.
Named pipes are 0 byte files which can be read by a PXE boot process.
They provide the necessary informations for the boot process and are
deleted afterwards.
This PXE boot is a single event and won't interact until another named
pipe is created for the client.

smbd/service.c:set_current_service(56) chdir (/var/ghost) failed
Hey Gang,
I have a suse 8.1 server that I have compiled samba 3.0.2 from source on.
I have it configured to authenticate against our AD. That seems to be
working fine.
getent passwd produces the results from both passwd and AD. getent group
gives me the groups + the AD groups. I was able to assign the permissions
to the folder without problems. It picked up the group from AD and
assigned it

L.S.
I've some problems on a couple of my samba servers.
The servers running CentOS release 5 with samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4

Reducing dependency on remote ferret process
Hi.
We use FerretDrb for search. If the ferret process is down, our entire
application comes down the moment we try to save a model which is indexed.
Is there a way to decouple this relationship such that we can somehow
resume normal operations despite ferret being down and not index the model?
Thanks.

Sibelius 6 does not work -user32.dll is not allowed to write
Hello
I'm using Wine 1.3.15 under Ubuntu 11.04 (just installed it, before I had Wine 1.2.2).
Sibeliuss 6 is not working for me (well I have VMWare + Windows 7, but this makes Sibelius 6 very slow, so it's hardly usable).
When I start it I get the Error:
"Error: 150021 (ERR_AUTH_REGTOOL_CANT_ACCESS_PIPE)"
When I klick on "OK" I get the next Error:

Native mode switch causing "chdir (/path) failed"
We just switched our Windows 2003 Active Directory domain into native
mode and are encountering a strange problem: (Samba 2.2.8a)
It seems that group membership is not being honored when attempting to
access a share.
The shared directory has permissions like so:
# file: is
# owner: root
# group: DOMAIN\Domain Admins
user::rwx
group::rwx
group:DOMAIN\Domain Admins:rwx
mask::rwx
other::r-x

"chdir failed" - could someone please explain what this error mea ns?
For some time now I've had this type of error showing up in my logs:
[2004/09/16 11:52:08, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(56)
chdir (/export/downloads) failed
I've Googled, I've looked at the source, and I still can't understand why
this error appears. What's really odd is that everything seems to work
fine, in spite of the error. Could someone please explain what

chdir (/root/tmp) failed - but why is it trying?
I'm seeing this in the log.smbd file for v3.0.28a.
[2008/04/14 18:29:16, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(184)
chdir (/root/tmp) failed
This happens straight after a server startup if I connect to my HOME
directory (and I'm the only person using the server). It is noted in
the log (debug level 1) *before* the entry about me connecting to my home.
There is no mention of /root

Cannot enable browsing, chdir to /tmp denied...
Hello,
Samba refuses to be browseable. I started out wanting to configure it as a
PDC, just as I have done previously with samba 2.2.8 (and openldap).
smbclient -L localhost -U% gives "Error returning browse list:
NT_STATUS_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED".
Using debian 3.0r1, samba 3.0.0, openldap with nsswitch, etc.
I am a newbie at looking at the logs, I see the access denied

Samba vs. Paradox
Hello list,
i have problems using paradox tables (Paradox Level 5) via BDE
(4.01 and 3.02) on my linux server, but their performance is very
slow. At current, i'm using Samba 1.9.17p2 (and yes, i know this is
not the current version, upgrad is planned). The configuration is
very passive (locking for multiuser access to tables, direct write to
disk). Does anybody have a suggestion on how

Basic problem with Samba 3.0.11 PDC on Samba Red Hat RHAS3 ACL srpm.
People have been experiencing problems with the subject line. AFAICS
most of them haven't bothered to follow selected bits of the HOWTO.
However, the former excludes all references to the idealx scripts, which
I cannot use, since my DIT is set up completely differently from the
idealx concept. I write my own, disjointed, shell and awk OpenLDAP
scripts.
Neither on my RHAS3 test rig (config as
