Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4 Samba
Gary, SWAT is neato! This is a wonderful summarizing and helping tool! I didn't know about it at all! (I had to set disable to no and enable it via xinetd, but then my localhost:901 works great!!) I'm going to look it over and try to regain at least the basic understanding I got of Samba many years ago when I configured my Windows 98! I believe it will go faster with

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4
Eero and others, I've already emailed this to Michael Wood: > Most likely your D-Link router has a built in 4 port switch and does > not control access between these 4 ports, so I doubt you need to do > anything on the D-Link router. Okay. I am now thinking it may be routing on the Windows box, so I will next put my focus/attention more to that. > > ? ? For example, I

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4
Greetings! Tonight is unfortunately the first small bit of time I've had to even try to get Samba configured between my Vista and my Linux FC4. (My mother as well as my extremely limited home time dealing with important things are my main delays.) It's not going well. :-) I have added hosts allow with 192.168.1 and 192.168.2. I have experimented with a few things. I

Samba, Win2K, Network path not found
Hi, I have tried to get my Win2K to access my Linux Samba server without success. The error message I am getting is "Network Path not found". Below are the details: 1. The Win2K is actually a guest OS running on VMWare-2.0.4. The host OS is a RedHat 7.2. VMware uses samba-2.0.6. 2. The config file was based on a working sample, off another VMWare machine. Its host OS was RedHat 7.2

connecting vmware through tinc on host system (linux)
Hello, i'm using a debian etch box (2.6.18-5-686) with tinc 1.0.5 for connecting to my office LAN. On the same box there's a vmware virtual machine running (Windows 2k). Now i'd like to connect this virtual machine through the VPN, too. All my attempts did fail... The virtual machine runs with a "host only" network (vmnet1). On the linux side i tried to configure NAT

Hello Puppet Users, I need a puppet master (Ubuntu) to push the executable files to the agent (windows 7) and install those executables I believe the manifest file should be set up to push such config to the windows agent. I came up with something like this: class wireshark { exec { ''wireshark'': command =>

Samba Very Slow When Using AFS and MS Office (is this a Bug?)
Hi All, I am having a problem with Samba that seems to be a bug. I say this because I read the archives and they described a problem similar to mine and were told that it was a bug in older version of Samba and the latest version should have it fixed. I am running what is essentially a RH 7.3 on a 1.4GHz Athon with 1GB or RAM. I compiled Samba 2.2.5 in /opt/samba-2.2.5 and am using the following

problem with safe_asterisk
Hi all, I have installed some Asterisk machine, all with the same problem. My typical configuration is: - Asterisk 1.2.14 (or 1.4.0beta3) - CentOS 4.4 server. The problem is this: When I start Asterisk with the default init script (/etc/init.d/asterisk start) distributed with the source, and kill (or kill -9) Asterisk-pid, then safe_asterisk doesn't correctly work (it dies and not restart

Double Integral Minimization Problem
Hello all, I am trying to minimize a function which contains a double integral, using "nlminb" for the minimization and "adapt" for the integral. The integral is over two variables (thita and radiusb) and the 3 free parameters I want to derive from the minimization are counts0, index and radius_eff. I have used both tasks in the past successfully but this is the first time

nouveau preventing shutdown after suspend-resume
Hello, I'm working on a Asus X756UQK laptop with nvidia + intel graphics cards. After a suspend-resume cycle, the machine hangs on shutdown, requiring a forced power off. After resuming I sometimes see the following messages on the kernel log: [ 186.117539] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: DRM: evicting buffers... [ 186.118105] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: DRM: waiting for kernel channels to go

either 192.168.1.x or 192.168.2.x networks? Don't forget to use a full stop after them like: hosts allow 192.168.1. 192.168.2. or you could write it like: hosts allow 192.168.1.0/24 192.168.2.0/24 > =A0 =A0 Okay, let me ask one basic question at a time. > > =A0 =A0 I "was thinking" that I didn't have to actually mount samba > (smbmount) in the past, back years

Working configuration for 5.1 and VMware 3 or 2?
Hello is there something wrong with the mail archive search scripts? I always seem to get 'list unavailable' :-( Anyway - 5_1 on Dell Latitude C640. the vmware3 port installs but the paths are a little odd - isoimages, licences are looked for in /usr/lib/vmware rather than /usr/local/lib.... I installed (w2k) a guest and it is fine but I cannot get networking host-only or bridge modes
