[PATCH V4 0/2] xenbus: Fix S3 frontend resume when xenstored is not running
Hi,
This patch series fixes the S3 resume of a domain running xenstored and a
frontend over xenbus (xen-netfront in my use case).
As device resume is happening before process resume, the xenbus frontend
resume is hanging if xenstored is not running, thus causing a deadlock.
This patch series is fixing that issue by deferring the xenbus frontend
resume when we are running xenstored in that same

Patch for rgl with gcc 4.0 in R 2.3.0 on OS X
Hi,
I recently had a problem installing the rgl package on OS X and put together
a simple patch. The patched package is available here:
http://jinome.stanford.edu/files/rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz
It can be installed with "R CMD INSTALL rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz" as
normal at the command line.
Also -- as of right now rgl is not in the repository of version 2.3 packages

Too much access rights on /tmp/passenger.{pid}/backends
Hi!
In a tight security environnement, we have to keep minimum access rights.
We found that /tmp/passenger.{pid}/backends is d-ws-wx-wx on root:root.
This directory is used by mod_passenger to keep execution queues.
Is it possible to limit those access rights?
Why is it world writable?
I''m wondering If somebody knows how to avoid keeping write access to the
world?
Thank you

Code for Hodrick-Prescott Filter: Special Case of smooth. spline?
I've had a play with this and, due to my own short-comings, remain none the
wiser.
In particular, I'm not sure what value of 'spar' is consistent with the
magic lambda=1/1600 for quarterly data.
I initially interpreted spar as lambda and tried setting spar=1/1600. This
results in almost no smoothing while spar=1600 causes an error. The
smooth.spline function seems to want

Here's the configuration:
OS: Solaris 10 11/08
OS Authentication: Sun Directory Server 5.x
Samba: v3.0.32 included with Solaris 10 11/08
Samba auth: Windows 2003R2 AD
Using a Windows XP client authenticated against AD mounting of home

Samba memory usage - how big is it?
Hi,
I'd upgraded samba to v3.0.32 last Sunday before our samba server started to
hang. Every day we have to restart our server 2-3 times (today I just
restart it once). I can see via System Monitor that 33 of our users each
(pid) consume 13.6Mb (average) of memory. Our server only have 1Gb of RAM
but usually it runs very well (except that we've already moved solidworks

Code for Hodrick-Prescott Filter
Has anyone written any code for the Hodrick-Prescott filter? I have a some
uncompiled FORTRAN code from Ed Prescott but I'd like to save myself some
programming time if possible. Thanks for your help.

Which g729 codec to download for a P4?
Sorry for being a bit of a newbie here but I find the
docs or README for downloading the G.729 codec from Digium
are not as detailed as I would like or just don't really
break down the different versions to a point that I am clear
on which one to grab.
The choices for 32bit are:

SMBMount and backup application
I would like some advice. I am considering the best way to restructure my
backup scheme on my NT network. I would like to see if it would be
possible/feasible to use cron, smbmount, some SCSI tape drives, and some type
of archive tool to backup my NT shares to a RedHat box using Samba. What do
all of you do out there? I would envision a situation where each night a
script is run by cron that

lctl deactivate questions
Hi;
One of our OSTs filled up. Once we realized this,
we executed
lctl --device 9 deactivate
on our fs''s combo MDS/MGS machine.
We saw in the syslog that the OST in
question was deactivated:
Lustre: setting import ufhpc-OST0008_UUID INACTIVE by administrator request
However, ''lfs df'' on the clients does not show
that the OST is deactivated there, unless we *also*

CentOS Images on AWS with partitions on /dev/xvda1 are awkwared to resize
I'm staring at the free CentOS images on AWS, and seeing that whoever
set those up elected to use a partition for /dev/xvda1 rather than
taking advantage of Amazon's tendency to use "/dev/xvda", "/dev/xvdb",
etc. for each disk and use those directly as a file system.
The result is that if you elect to allocate a larger base disk image,
for example allocating 50 Gig to

I don't know who to report this to, but I'll post it here and hope
someone with authority sees it.
The on-line posting of the smb.conf man page is missing lots of information:

negative variances
Dear R experts,
I had a question which may not be directly relevant to R but I will be
grateful if you can give me some advices.
I ran a two-level multilevel model for data with repeated measurements over
time, i.e. level-1 the repeated measures and level-2 subjects. I could not
get convergence using lme(), so I tried MLwiN, which eventually showed the
level-2 variances (random effects for

Adding machine accounts with Ghost
Greetings.
Please reference:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-ntdom/2001-September/019783.html
That list is listed as "inactive" on the samba site, so I'm following up here.
Does anyone know if this functionality was ever achieved? We just
replaced out NT4 PDC with samba and I'm facing this exact problem. I
do not relish the thought of having to "touch"

Help using smooth.spline with zoo object
Can someone please show me how to smooth time series data that I have in the form of a zoo object?
I have a monthly economies series and all I really need is to see a less jagged line when I plot it.
If I do something like
s <- smooth.spline(d.zoo$Y, spar = 0.2)
plot(predict(s,index(d.zoo)), xlab = "Year")
