Classicupgrade failure
Hello.
I've still got a couple of NT domains and I'd like to upgrade them to
AD. In these days I had a chance to try to migrate one of them, but I
ran into troubles and had to go back. I don't know when I'll have the
chance to try again (probably not before some months), but I need to
understand what went wrong before that.
The starting situation: Samba 4.8 running as AD

IDMAP_RID with Winbind works for groups but not users
Hi,
I've setup samba 3.4.7 to use idmap_rid as per the documentation:
idmap backend = rid:DOMAIN=500-100000000
idmap gid = 500-100000000
imap uid = 500-100000000
It seems to work for groups:
wbinfo --group-info="domain admins"
domain admins:x:100512

How are user and group SID's generated?
Greetings,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this. I've been searching for over
a week and cannot find information on how Samba generates SID's from
Unix UID's and GID's.
I keep running into situations where after adding a new user to my
CentOS server all other users are suddenly prevented from accessing
shares that have a group ACL assigned.
I finally figured out that

How to turn off "plus" delivery
I use a lot of plus-style addresses (me+stuff at example.com), except I use underscore as the separator rather than plus (me_stuff at example.com). My mail logs are full of messages where dovecot looks for a mailbox named "stuff", fails, then delivers to my inbox. Is there a way to turn that off so that dovecot automatically delivers to my inbox?
Thanks!
Here are the details:

Problems with idmap_adex module
Hi Guys,
I'm having problems getting the new idmap_adex module to work.
When using the idmap_adex plugin I get the following:

# wbinfo -i administrator
Could not get info for user administrator
As expected attempting to lookup user & group info via commands which use libnss also fail.

userGroupRid and groupmapping
Hi !
When I create a user with samba-ldap tools, the userRid is calculated if
the -x option is set.
The userGroupRid is calculated too. But is the groumapping is enabled, the
SambaPrimaryGroupSID not correspond with SambaSID of groupmapping
Example :
Groupe "Domain Users" :
gidNumber 100
displayName Domain Users
objectClass sambaGroupMapping

Asterisk replying to wrong port for NOTIFY messages
See the following SIP trace.
Where in the world does Asterisk get port 1025 to respond to?
This is asterisk 1.6.x.
Thanks.

Asterisk realtime peer registration
Hello there
I'd like to use sip users and peers realtime.
I think I done all I need to get asterisk works fine in realtime:

SIP Security
Hey guys,
I've been running asterisk on my server for some time now (currently
running Asterisk 1.6.2.0). I am having security issues with my SIP
accounts. Unauthorized people have been able to access the server (bots)
and they have been able to make calls (in today's case to Cuba).
Here's a copy (slightly modified) of my sip.conf:

SMB+LDAP
Hi Folks,
A couple of questions about making SMB (3 or 4) authenticate to an
external (anonymous) LDAP server:
1) A typical LDAP user record is below. Is there anything lacking in
this record that would prevent Samba from authenticating against our
LDAP server? Note the sambaSID is as is, gobblygook info:

Samba 3.0: Cannot alter user settings with pdbedit

After a failed migrate from NT4 to Samba 3.0 using the rpc vampire method I decided I'd do it manually with 'net rpc samdump'. Well it sort of worked, except I can't edit any of the users settings, it might just be me, but it should modify the profile to that, just as a test but it doesn't. I'd actually like to get rid of the

bogus bond0 device showing up in /proc/net/dev
I'm running into a situation where a bogus bonded interface named
"bond0" is being created, in addition to the desired "bond2" interface.
Can anyone confirm this? Anyone know why it's happening or what I do
to get rid of it? I wanted to start my numbering scheme at 2 instead of
0, which I didn't think would be a problem.
As you can see, I have no reference
