winbind, ntlm_auth and multiple AD domains
Hello In the organization where I work there are serveral labolatories, each having its own, independent Active Directory Domain (there are no trust relationships between them). We want to build a central 802.1x authentication with users credentials being verified in these AD. To achieve this we configured a central FreeRadius server + winbind and ntlm_auth from Samba suite. It works perfectly

Do I need two instances of Samba on the same machine (3rd request) ?
I have two subnets S1 and S2 and only one machine running samba, but this machine is connected to both subnets, ahs one interface in each subnet and is acting as a router. I want to have a workgroup that spans the two subnets, so any machine in subnet S1 should see all the machines regardless of their subnet when doing browsing. I know that to do this I need: -One LMB in each subnet using Samba.

Managing samba ad dc with systemd
Hi, Rowland, I've complied samba use: ./configure --enable-debug --enable-selftest --with-systemd make make install I haven't done anything to install MIT Kerberos and I've followed wiki to install Samba with your default Kerberos. Then I believe that I use Heimdal Kerberos I've installed EPEL repository to install python3 and other dependencies such as python36-dns. I can run

winbind cache time
Heya, We use ntlm_auth in conjunction with our squid proxy server. Ntlm_auth authenticates against our Windows 2003 SP1 DC's. Our AD domain requires users to change password every 90 days. We sometimes have an issue where an expiring account (our users tend to ignore the warning And only change when forced to) does not authenticate with squid and falls back to basic Authentication, which if

Member server - domain shows as "Unix User" on ACLs

Corrupted idmap...
Rowland, no domain user can authenticate on any system and running sysvolreset followed by sysvolcheck results in a crash. If the sysvol permissions are correct, sysvolcheck does not crash. If I attempt to join a NAS or workstation to the domain I get NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID. Researching these symptoms turns up a thread about a corrupt idmap.ldb where a group SID and user SID may be the same or

Winbind issue
All, After upgrading to samba 3.0.30 on gentoo amd64 because of my recent best friend CVE-2008-1105 My winbind daemon is 'hanging up', and refusing to respond to pings after a few minutes of activity. Wbinfo -u, getent passwd all work successfully, then after a bit wbinfo -p just tells me winbind dies. I have 3.0.30/winbind on another machine, also amd64 that is working.... So

getenv does not return any AD DOMAIN users or groups - ?nsswitch is not setup for Samba?
The problem is that getenv does not return any AD domain users or groups. From much research this seems to be because nsswitch is not setup for Samba. I would really appreciate some assistance as I think this is my last hurdle for actually being able to use this test file server. Ubuntu server 18.04 - Samba installed and configured (almost) Kerberos functioning. wbinfo --ping-dc successfully

Migrating samba4 dc from an instance with static/external dns to a fresh install with dynamic/internal dns
Dear list, I want to migrate our existing samba4 dc with a static/external dns backend, to a new install with internal dynamic dns backend. Given: DC1 - existing samba4 dc with static/external dns running quite old build (to be updated to version 4.3 before the migration starts) DC2 - new samba4 dc with internal dynamic dns (running 4.3 version) What is the best way to do such migration?

Creating sub actions
Hi, So finally I have also decided to roll my engines on Rails. But I am kind of stuck in a situation. I understand that for every model there is a controller class. This controller class has cirtain set of methods where each method defines cirtain action to be performed. And each of this action renders cirtain UI. [The background] Now let say I have a object "Car". Apart from

unexpectedly high memory use in R 2.14.0
I recently started using R 2.14.0 on a new machine and i am experiencing what seems like unusually greedy memory use. It happens all the time, but to give a specific example, let's say i run the following code -------- for(j in 1:length(files)){ load(file.path(dump.dir, files[j])) mat.data[[j]]<-data } save(abind(mat.data, along=2), file.path(dump.dir, filename)) ---------
