LDAP backend replication?
Hi to all! I've set up Zimbra LDAP (2.4) as master, and I want to use RHEL v5 LDAP (2.3) as a slave. This is relevant part of my slapd.conf on LDAP 2.3: # syncrepl directives syncrepl rid=101 provider=ldap://192.168.1.86 bindmethod=simple binddn="uid=zimbra,cn=admins,cn=zimbra" credentials=PASSword searchbase="dc=company,dc=com" schemachecking=on

LDAP BDC- Classic Domain
Hi Guys, We're trying to add a BDC in Samb4 classic domain setup. The Samba 3 How -To and Samb3 by Example covers this but uses the old slapd.conf option, we are using the slapd.d config. I couldn't find a similar document for Samba4 Can you please advise that the following steps will work? LDAP in the existing PDC is working using the smbldap tools - Setup the LDAP in BDC

syncrepl in OpenLDAP 2.3.x (CentOS 5) and updating on a replica
Hi, I have a setup with two CentOS 5 machines running OpenLDAP 2.3.x, right now the primary uses slurpd to send the updates to the second server, and the second server is using "updatedn" to allow updates (from what I understand! I'm no OpenLDAP guru here.) Clients are using pam_ldap and nss_ldap to get the users and authenticate them in LDAP. Right now hosts query only the primary

Changing Windows Passwords
I have 6 domain controllers that were running samba-tng using openldap, Six months ago I converted one of the controllers to Samba3.0.20 and exported my ldap information to be compatible with Samba, every works fine. Specifically I could change passwords at the local windows machine. Two weeks ago I converted my other 5 controllers to Samba3.0.21b everything works except changing passwords at

idmap problem
Hi, I configured a SaMBa PDC and a BDC with a master and a slave OpenLDAP. I set up TLS, because I wanted secure syncrepl. Slapd runs with -h ldap:// 127.0.0.1/ ldaps.///. I successfully joined an XP client to the servers' domain, I see shares (but I havent logged in as a domain user, because I have to create a default profile first). My problem is in the log.winbindd-idmap log file:

LDAP server, too many open files
I've setup an LDAP server with a slave server on Centos 5.3 X86_64, replication works, most of the time client logins work fine but I'm starting to get a error I can't seem to eliminate, it's starting to cause login failures for users and I think it's causing other application failures when they try to auth against ldap. on the client side /var/log/messages shows Oct

centos + ldap + syncrepl (push vs pull)
Hi, From what I gather, OpenLDAP on Centos 5.x pulls LDAP changes from central LDAP server to a secondary LDAP server. So in other words, you can have your second LDAP server pull the db based on either; type=refreshOnly which mean the pull interval will happen when ever you specify or; type=refreshAndPersist which mean after a pull, keep the pipe open for any changes made. Now in

no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and authenticating against it. Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain. I gave up and

Adding a machine; I think I am onto something
Parameters are: Samba 2.2.7a PDC setup with LDAP includeing posix authentication for Linux. OK, the tutorial I've based my setup on is the Mandrake tutorial found at http://www.mandrakesecure.net/en/docs/ldap-auth.php Works great for autenticateing Linux from LDAP but it is really sparse on the Samba side of things. Esepcially when it comes to adding machine trust accounts. So anyway I

Access denied error when trying to join XP to Samba Domain
Hi everyone, I know this one has been addressed before. I have had so much trouble getting the IDEALX scripts to work that I set about writing my own and they almost work. The trouble is with the add machine script. The first time I do the join, I get an access denied error message on WinXP. I have verified that an entry for the machine was successfully created in ldap. Then, I try again

ldapsearch w. SSL refuses to connect to server with openssl 1.0.1 (worked with openssl 1.0.0)
Hi, ldapsearch with an ldaps-URL stopped working recently, probably with the update from openssl 1.0.0 to openssl 1.0.1. On a server with up-to-date packages (openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.x86_64, openldap-clients-2.4.23-32.el6_4.1.x86_64) I get the following errors when issuing an ldapsearch (some parts anonymized): [bad]# ldapsearch -H "ldaps://ldap.domain.org:6636/" -D <binddn>

two PDCs
Hello, I have a PDC with master ldap backend and a BDC with slave ldap backend (both are SaMBa 3.2 on Debian Lenny). I want to install an additional SaMBa server on an another site (on Debian Squeeze). The two sites is connected with VPN (on not so reliable ADSL lines). I read an interesting network scenario in the Samba Guide chapter 6: theoretically it is possible to install one PDC on both
