whats normal for samba loging amount
Hi, I'm running the Debian samba 3.0.10-1 package. I have 'log level = 0'. However my logcheck is showing a lot of noise from samba. Are the following messages normal, or do we have a misconfiguration? (We don't seem to have any problems accessing the shared samba shares): Mar 31 12:13:31 sd01 nmbd[3150]: [2005/03/31 12:13:31, 0]

Browsing Problems
Hello. I've got a Samba server and I'd like it to be master browser and everything else except domain controller (the customers wants a workgroup, not a domain). Lately a Windows 2003 server was added to the net and then I guess it was removed. I keep getting messages like the following in the logs: > Apr 10 03:07:51 apocalypse nmbd[57552]: [2005/04/10 03:07:51, 0]

Getting rid of old network
I can't get rid of an old network I had configured on my Samba server, it was PDC on two subnets, and one of those nets are now gone. Still Samba tries to become PDC on the subnet (192.168.100.10). So, in my logs I get hundreds of these messages; [2007/07/26 22:38:57, 0] nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:get_domain_master_name_node_status_fail(488) get_domain_master_name_node_status_fail: Doing

Mac Machines taking over Master Browser
For some reason the Macintosh machines on our LAN have started taking over as master browser without actually providing. Mostly these are Leopard machines, and one Tiger machine. We had OS Level set to 255 and that does not seem to make a difference. Message "Couldn't verify trusting domain account. Error was NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" while attempting "net rpc trustdom establish domain_B"
This is a little of a new experience for me, I am a bit of a novice. I have usually been able to stumble around documentation and other mailing lists to figure out problems, unfortunately I have struck and issue that has me going around in circles ... I have set up a VPN between three locations using openvpn (device = tun ), two satellite locations (referred to as B & C) talking to a

Trust relationship failed...
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand in figuring out this problem, I have seen several other similar problems in searching, but nothing that exactly matches what I am seeing here. I have recently migrated a client from a Samba server running 2.2.7 (Redhat 9) to 3.0.2 (Fedora 1). The samba installation is running as a PDC for 5 Win XP workstations and was working perfectly prior to the

wireframe
I've been using lattice/wireframe succesfully to visualize some data. I have one question. I want to be able to change the viewpoint ( i.e. rotate the plotted figure a bit left or right or up and down ) Is there a way to do that? Or is there some other package around that could help? Thanks.

normality tests
Hi all, apologies for seeking advice on a general stats question. I ve run normality tests using 8 different methods: - Lilliefors - Shapiro-Wilk - Robust Jarque Bera - Jarque Bera - Anderson-Darling - Pearson chi-square - Cramer-von Mises - Shapiro-Francia All show that the null hypothesis that the data come from a normal distro cannot be rejected. Great. However, I don't think it looks

Samba-LDAP interdomain trust
I'm trying to create a trust between two Samba-LDAP domains (on a single server). I'm following Samba Howto Collection (http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NetCommand.html#id335566) but I'm getting the error below. root@facomp01:~# /usr/local/samba.labi/bin/net rpc testjoin -S rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:get_schannel_session_key(2443) get_schannel_session_key:

samba samba cross subnet browsing
Hi! I am having some trouble with a samba domain distributed over 2 subnets (192.168.0.0/23 (supernetted) & 192.168.4.0/24). These subnets are linked over the internet through a IPSec gateway to gateway (network to network) connection (i.e. all machines can reach/ping each other on both subnets). The samba PDC (with LDAP backend) has IP 192.168.0.4 and there is a BDC (LDAP slave) in

slow printing vista
Hi, We are running samba Version 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 The directory shares are working well. But we are experiencing slowness when connecting and talking to the printers. Has anyone any ideas about why this could be happening and how to fix it? For windows XP we solved this problem by deleting registry entrys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModes2 But
