sunspot data in R 2.0.0
I noticed this in the NEWS: o Datasets 'sunspot.month' and 'sunspot.year' are available separately but not via data(sunspot) (which is used by package lattice to retrieve a dataset 'sunspot'). Now, the 'sunspot' dataset included in lattice was actually a mistake, I realized later that I instead wanted the 'sunspots' data from

Spectrum confidence interval
Dear useRs, I'd like to plot a confidence interval on a periodogram. My problem is that spec.pgram(sunspots,ci=0.95,log="yes") gives me a blue error bar on the plot, but spec.pgram(sunspots,ci=0.95,log="no") does not. My questions are: 1. how should I plot the confidence interval with log="no"? 2. how should I get the min and max values of the confidence

multiple print commands in win.metafile()
Hi All, I need a file which I can import to MS Word, I'm trying win.metafile(), but it does not seem to support multiple print commands at once (please see below). Is there an alternative to get plots file which can be used in powerpoint/word? # R code: # this does not work; but same thing works with pdf() library(lattice) win.metafile("test.wmf") p1 <- xyplot(decrease ~

From OCFS to tape via tar (and back again)
We're using RMAN to back up our 9.2 RAC database to an OCFS v1 volume. We have an existing shell script that we use for copying files from disk to tape via tar, one file at a time. (Don't ask why. It's a legacy script. Long story.) We're tweaking this script to use --o_direct when tarring the file to tape and that seems to be working fine: # tape device is /dev/nst0 $ tar

(no subject)
can you recommend a good manual for R that starts with a data set and gives demonstrations on what can be done using R? I downloadedR Langauage definition and An introduction to R but haven't found them overly useful. I'd really like to be able to follow some tutorials using a dataset or many datasets. The datasets I have available on R are Data sets in package 'datasets':

correlation and causality examples
Dear All, I'am looking for examples showing that correlation does not imply causality, the targeted audience consists of undergraduate students (their first year at the university but in the BioMathStat track). All practicals are under R. I was able to extract this from R datasets: ### begin data(sunspots) data(lynx) spots <- window(sunspots, freq = 1, start = 1880, end = 1900) lnx <-

Many "smbd" process with "D" uninterruptible sleep status
I got a samba server(Linux) to store some data in my PC(windows) frequently. And last night I found that samba can't work. After logined to samba server and found that there's 91 smbd processes with status "D" totally. # ps 169 root 0 SW [pdflush] 170 root 0 DW [pdflush] .... 29534 simon 20608 D /sbin/smbd -D 29548 root 2792 D

Bioassays Yielding concentration-Mortality data
Dear all, I'm trying reproduce an example of bioassays Yielding Concentration-Mortality Data particularly control - adjustment model from book Bioassay of Entomopathogenic Microbes and Nematodes chapter 7 with R. I used glm with family=binomial and link=probit, but I do not know how to implement parameter gamma (control mortality - mortality of the untreated control insect in this exaple)

plot CI and mortality rate
Dear R Users: I have the individual mortality rate and 95% CI of 100 hospitals, how to do the plot with the individual hospital in the Yaxis, and the mortality rate and 95% CI in the Xais and a overall mean as a reference line? Thanks and regards, Xin [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

coxph: cumulative mortality hazard over time with associated confidence intervals
Dear R-users, I computed a simple coxph model and plotted survival over time with associated confidence intervals for 2 covariate levels (males and females). M1 <- coxph(survobject~sex, data=surv) M1 survsex <- survfit(survobject~sex,data=surv) summary(survsex) plot(survsex, conf.int=T, col=c("black","red"), lty = c(1,2), lwd=c(1,2), xlab="Time",

help ! calculating relative mortality using survival5
Hi All, I am relatively new to R (took a class 2 yrs ago ...), and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a problem I'd like to solve in R : I would like to calculate the relative mortality of a particular impairment, relative to the standard population. I.e. I'm trying to find S_relative(t) in the eqn below : S_impar(t) = S_standard(t) * S_relative(t) where

Plot mortality data and show trend
I have a mortality data over many years and I wish to plot the data and also add some smoother to clearly highlight the trend. How could I do that in R with base graphics or ggplot? I have the following sample data: require(lubridate) mdate<-seq(ymd('2000-01-01'),ymd('2010-12-31'), by = '1 day') death<- rnorm(4018, 80, 45) df<-cbind(mdate,death)

tree mortality risk model using glm()
Dear all, I've used glm(family=binomial(link="logit")) several times, but now I think that a log link is more appropriate. I want to fit a model for probability of tree fall (TF)), with tree diameter (dbh) and soil moisure (soil) as predictors. A large number of trees have been checked every second year whether they stand up (0) or have fallen (1). I assume that the tree fall

Samba pid in uninterruptible state
Greetings, I recently upgraded Samba on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 server from version 4.1.9 to 4.2.3. Upon rebooting Samba process goes into a running state then after a short time it will go into an uninterruptible state. If I check the log.samba, it appears that it is attempting to start, then hangs at the following: [2016/06/23 15:16:00.329503, 3] ../source4/param/share.c:124(share_register)

uninterruptible sleep with rsync 2.5.4
Hi, I've encountered a strange issue, difficult to reproduce for now. I'm searching from where it comes. Here are some facts: - all programs are compiled from sources using gcc 2.95.3/glibc2.2.x and run on a i686 LFS linux system. - rsync doesn't run above ssl. - using rsync 2.5.4 as server to backup mailboxes on another computer. rsync daemon is launched from xinetd, rsync

killing "uninterruptible sleep" process
