Max Payne
Hi I'm trying to run Max Payne in Ubuntu 11.04. It installs fine and I have patched it whithout problems. But when I try to run it it says 'Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application', even though the cd is already in the drive. Is there something I can do to avoid this? I have read in some other threads that it could be something about the copy protection

Fw: Forcing password changes using SAMBA as PDC
Hi, I did as suggested, and still have the same problem. I am still able to login to samba with another users password that does not require password changes. This seems to me that the problem is related to PAM password changing. I have tried change the various PAM options in the smb.conf file, but cannot get it to work. Depending on the options, it either asks for a password or not. When it asks

Downloaded file is larger than the starting file
I'm running R for windows 2.9.1. When I use a script to download a file from the internet, the file is 1,496 bytes larger than the reported file size in the download process. It doesn't give the correct answer when I process it but it doesn't appear to be completely corrupt as the processing script runs. I can download the file from Firefox and the size of the downloaded file is

SAMBA and Subnet Browsing
Hi, I have 3 Samba servers run Samba 2.0.7 on RH6.2, with Kernel 2.2.16-3. Everything seems to be OK, except that my Win9x clients cannot see other Win9x clients across the subnets. Each server has 2 n/w cards installed, with IP Forwading enabled etc. If the user knows the machine name, he can get access to the shared resources across all 3 subnets, but using the n/w neighbourhood browser, shows

Hi, I am a newbie to this list and to Samba, and have a concern about my Samba servers. I am getting a number of messages on the consoles of both my Samba servers, it reads "smb-retry: signal failed, error=-3" Can someone please explain this to me? Also, is there a list of error codes for Samba? Regards Enrico Payne IT Manager - Pharma Natura http://www.pharma.co.za

legalities of streaming
Ditto Scott - you nailed it !! But the DMCA actually sets rules on requests and processing them without being considered "interactive" - for instance the time frame allowed from when requests are made and then processed and actually air (minimum 60 minutes), to displaying your playlist - (can not be displayed public in the order of actual performance) basically as long as you never

Copyrights for R contributed libraries
I have been packaging both R and the R contributed libraries for the Debian GNU/Linux operating system. Right now if anyone installs Debian Linux on an Intel machine or a DEC Alpha they will have the option of installing R as a regular part of the operating system. I think this is a good way of getting wider distribution of high quality statistical software. The Linux community is growing

MGCV: Use of irls.reg option
Hi, In the help files in the ?mgcv package for the gam.control() function, there is an option irls.reg. The help files describe this option as: For most models this should be 0. The iteratively re-weighted least squares method by which GAMs are fitted can fail to converge in some circumstances. For example, data with many zeroes can cause problems in a model with a log link, because a mean of

[LLVMdev] Identical types with distinct names
LLVM uses structural equivalence to distinguish types, so there's no direct way to retain multiple types with identical contents. The C++ front-end generates a single struct for two such classes, and simply initializes their vtables differently to get the right function pointers. You would need some hack like you said to create distinct structs, which may be ok if you use it only for

[Fwd: Samba Blues]
Ok...I can't believe I'm still struggling with this!!! I've setup a SAMBA server using ARCH Linux 0.7 (Wombat) *what a distro!!* and everything is fine except when it comes to adding machines to the domain (aaarrrgghh). When I try to do it via windows, I get "the domain is no longer available". So I add a machine account manually, then go to windows and walla, I get the

Authentification with PostgreSQL
Hi all, I found Dag Wieers' Fedora Core 2 rpm on http://dag.wieers.com/packages/dovecot/ and installed it. Now dovecot-auth isn't complaining anymore about an unknown userdb type but I can't get authentication working. /etc/dovecot.conf (...) # Authentication process name. auth = default # plain digest-md5 anonymous auth_mechanisms = plain auth_userdb = pgsql

ices 0.3 released
Actually I think there is already allot of mainstream support for the format? In fact many large Gaming developers including EA and Sierra use the format to drive audio in their gamning - there is allot of hardware supporting the format as well and many player solutions in place that support it - However the issue of most concern to me is although for localised encoding and "Playback"
