Win10 forcing NTLMSSP when KRB5 desired
Hi all, I've 4.5.1 Samba on a machine with SSSD 1.13.4 setup and joined with a Windows Server 2012 domain. Everything works great for Windows 8.1 - I can connect to the Samba share and get authenticated as a domain user and files are created with the correct Windows domain username and group. With a Windows 10 client, I get an 'Access Denied'. After some debugging, I'm putting

Samba 4.7.1 Generating Core Dumps
Hi, We are having issues with our samba server running on CentOS 7. It's generating core dumps and dumping them in the / (root filesystem) directory in the form of core.##### where the # is a series of numbers. Snippets of log files and some troubleshooting commands are below. Hope someone can have a look and see if I should file this as a bug, as there were similar posts in the samba

Smbd internal error and panic with nfs-mounted share
We're trying to share a directory that's mounted via NFS from another server; when we connect to that share, smbd panics and tries to dump core. This is samba-3.0.30 on Alpha/Tru64-4.0G. The directory we're trying to use is exported from a Linux box called sesfs (Centos 4.4) and mounted on the Alpha server via NFS as /sesfs/scratch. I've appended below an edited summary from

SPNEGO NTLMSSP failure
Hi, The cifs client that I am working on is having some problem with SPNEGO/NTLMSSP. Session Setup AndX is failing in the last exchange of NTLMSSP. The error I am getting is 0xC00000D(STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER). I am also seeing the following message in the log "spnego_parse_auth(466) spnego_auth_parse failed at 7. " I am using Heimdal library to generate SPNEGO/NTLMSSP messages. I

Server 2008 and Samba 3.0.25b
Hi Folks - I'm experiencing a very strange problem with Server 2008 machines (for all intents and purposes related to Samba, it's Vista) connecting to a Samba Server. The Samba machine is a RHEL4.6 machine running Samba 3.0.25b. I am joined to the mixed mode AD domain via the command "net rpc join -U administrator <domain>". I am not using winbind or kerberos. Or

samba3 and kerberos authentication of users
Hi all, this is probably VFAQ, but I never found a working solution. I have a standalone samba server running samba ver. 3. In the network, we have heimdal kerberos used to authenticate users for pop3,imap,web-based applications etc. Now I would like to make the samba communicating with kerberos kdc so there will no longer be users in smbpasswd with separate passwords outside of kerberos. I

security = server, username map, different domain -> no login
Hi, I posted a similar question a few days before. I'm still confused what might be wrong with my config. Setup: - update from Samaba 2.2.12 to 3.0.10 - Solaris 8 Server - server is not a domain (EMEA) member, and it's not possible to add the server to the EMEA domain :(- server is only in workgroup ERS (our department, no DC, only a few hosts). - no winbind - authentification happens

server response does not appear to correspond to request
Here is a second, somewhat related question to my last one. When looking over the network trace I have ran into something I cannot explain. It may be quite proper, in which case I am misreading the trace. But I would appreciate it if someone would explain this to me. In packet 109 of the trace (during a login with no profile on the server), I see a "NT Create AndX request"

Winbindd can't convert between SIDs and uid/gid
Samba 3.5.8 on OpenSolaris (SunOS 5.11) Intel platform; gcc 4.2.3; built with "configure --with-winbind --with-krb5 --with-ldap --with-ads" Samba is joined to our Windows-2008 AD domain. Pretty much everything works, except that winbindd can't convert between SIDs and uid/gid: 1. wbinfo -r WIN\\lanz (Returns nothing -- no output) First I obtain my SID from "wbinfo -n

How can I confirm that idmap_ad is being used?
How can I confirm that idmap_ad is being called? I've configured Samba with --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad, built and installed it; the file ad.so is now present in /usr/local/samba/lib/ idmap/ as expected. I then added the following to smb.conf: idmap backend = tdb idmap uid = 65536 - 999999 idmap gid = 65536 - 999999 idmap config SU : backend = ad idmap config SU :

ACK's overhead
Good day time! We've noticed the following issue with Samba 3.0.1 on Linux. When SMB client asks for the first time on FID for a locking or read request on an opened file, it causes an ACK to be sent from client side. Windows server also requests ACK BUT much more rarely. Sending ACK causes additional overhead when working in heavy locking and unlocking environment. Windows server

: Win XP Client does not remove directories
Hello mailinglist, I have a strange problem, which occurs sometimes on some WinXP clients. It is not 100% reproducable for me, but it returns regular. The problem is, that somehow a user can't delete a directory. All files in the directory will be removed successfully, but the directory itself not. Deleting with the Explorer or over the cmd-console returns in the same result. First the

Poor performance getting lots of small files with WinXP/Win2k vs OS2
Hi, We're doing some of performance tests with Linux Samba v3. We're comparing WinXP/Win2k clients vs OS2 clients accessing a samba server. For one test, we're coping 10.000 small files. Let's say, we run the command copy \\sambaserver\10000files\*.* c:\data\10000files With an OS2 client it takes 23 seconds to complete. With an Windows client it takes 460 seconds to complete.

RPC error logging in to PDC on Win-64
I've upgraded one of my client boxes to Windows 64 bit edition but now it cannot login to the Samba PDC, instead it gives a RPC error after entering the password. The Win32 boxes can still login fine. I can get accounts without admin rights to login but those with the rights are given a message stating "The system cannot log you on due to the following error: A remote procedure call

access denied with samba share
Hello Samba group, Problem: I cannot get samba share to grant access to my /shared share. I created it, gave the linux user permissions and tested them, my Windows XP Pro sees the share, I can map a drive to it, but I cannot change to it: Access denied is the error I get. I'm logged into Windows XP as the same user ID and password as on the Linux system. I had a problem when accessing the
