"security = server" vs "security = domain" + samba auth problems
Hi all, So, in a long running battle with samba service provisioning, I've run up against an authentication problem. It was outlined in an email to the list a few days ago. After coming to the conclusion that it is not a kerberos issue (the kerberos MIT list helped me work through this), I can now be fairly assured me issues are related to my samba config. Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all, I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd: [2008/10/11 08:54:03, 1, pid=13610] libsmb/cliconnect.c:(1451) Error connecting to 192.168.117.150 (Connection refused)

Password server is not connected - "cli not initilised" issue
Hi all, We are currently upgrading some core infrastructure and authentication hosts (Mac OS X 10.4.11 Open Directory/OpenLDAP/KDC --> 10.5.5). We've run into an interesting snag however. The Sun host that we use for sharing out files over Samba 3.0.28a (Sun's currently shipped, supported version of Samba) worked perfectly with the directory master running Mac OS X 10.4.11.

NTLMv2 in Sun's 'official' Samba 3.0.37?
Hi all. Just looking for some guidance as to what works, and what doesn't. Recently I've noticed that no matter what I do, I can't seem to get NTLMv2 to negotiate using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.6.x against Solaris 10 Samba 3.0.37. If I 'tune' the client OS that it only negotiates with NTLMv1, all is well. In my global block, on the Solaris Samba server, I

Compiling 3.2.4 --with-krb5=/usr/lib/krb5, not working
Hi all, I'm currently attempting to compile Samba 3.2.4 for Solaris 10 x86. I require krb5 support and I realised that it would not look in the correct default location, under Solaris 10. Example, from ./configure --help: --with-krb5=base-dir Locate Kerberos 5 support (default=/usr) In vanilla Solaris 10 x86, Kerberos libraries are stored in /usr/lib/ krb5. I thought it best to

Solaris 10 + Samba + LDAP - how to?
Hi all, Some of you may recall a little while ago I posted a fairly complex request about integrating samba into a solaris 10 fileserver and using Open LDAP as the primary authentication source. Well, I got no responses as I believe it may have been too complicated-a-request/ question. So, a simplification and some different questions. 1. I have a Solaris 10 x86 host that I'd like to

incoming caller doesn't hear rining.
Hi, I have an asterisk installation that has been happily working in production for some time (E100P and UK BT ISDN30). Recently I upgraded to HEAD-07/29/04. Now, incoming callers don't hear ringing while calling in. As far as I can tell, my config files haven't changed from what was working before. Can anyone please help before my boss shoots me? Is NTLMv2 auth possible with security = SERVER ?
Hi list. I've been running up against a bunch of ntlm v2 related issues recently with Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 client systems attempting to connect to my Solaris 10 samba 3.0.37 server. As it turns out, Sun engineering suggest that because I use "security = SERVER" rather than "security = DOMAIN", ntlmv2 auth will never actually work, even if I have settings such as:

Connecting Solaris 10 + samba + Mac OS X Open Directory
Hi all, I've recently run into a situation whereby I need samba to tackle a task. It is complicated by multi-vendor infrastructure. I am hoping that someone here has the knowledge and experience to say: "been there, done that...here is how..." To give some background to the architecture (slightly exotic)... 1. We run a large Sun SAM-FS/QFS installation (a high end

Numericality validation strips chars from original entry
I''ve noticed that if I use the numericality validator and the user enters, for example "1234ABCD" it''ll come back with a "not a number" error, but it then fills the input box with "1234", discarding the non- numeric input the user originally put in. I''ve seen a similar question about this in this group, but the poster was looking for a way

Multiple VLAN/subnet recommendations
We're using Samba in several schools. We generally have a single Samba server acting as a domain controller in each school. Until recently, this has worked very well. The number of workstations on our school networks has been steadily growing. Among other things, this has convinced us to split some school's networks into several VLANs/subnets. To add complication, the server running Samba

Interesting figures. Need PAM to use winbind in Solaris 8?
I'm just curious to see if I'm fighting an uphill battle that isn't really necessary. Is anyone out there NOT using PAM, running Samba and winbind on Solaris 8? Maybe my problems are related to my attempt to keep it simple and not use pam. -Dan Daniel J. SUMMARY: username map
It turned out that the Windows ID was 9 characters and for some reason the Unix system was truncating it. I'm guessing that it is because the Unix box has a 8 character ID limit. We changed the Windows ID to 7 characters and everything worked. JC ------ Original Message ------ Received: Wed, 08 Aug 2007 05:10:15 PM EDT From: "JESSE CARROLL" <jesse-carroll@usa.net> To:

Problem rebuilding Centos 5/6 pigeonhole RPM from mercurial version
Hi Stephan, I'm traying to rebuild the RH (Centos) EL5 and EL6 RPM with the last mercurial pigeonhole 0.4.2 version, but I'm having problems with the build. I think that I've isolated the problem outside rpmbuild context. I've downloaded dovecot and pigeonhole mercurial versions and built dovecot with the commands: dovecot-2.2.10$ ./autogen.sh dovecot-2.2.10$ ./configure
