Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hi...
Same problem here,
running on CentOS 5.* and 4.5.
It was solved by installing the package lockdev.
Then you must restart the machine.
And problem fixed.

Advice on Win98 -> Win2K transition?
My LAN is running Samba v2.0.10 on RedHat Linux v7.1 and everything is
running great. Not content to leave well enough alone, we will soon be
converting all the Win98 clients to Win2K. What kind of Samba-related
difficulties, if any, should I expect?
Samba exports both shared drives and printers to the client machine on the
Network. Client machines are given access to their home drives as

"Unexpected network error" copying large files NT->Linux?
Folks --
I've read the FAQ at samba.org/samba/docs/FAQ, I've
searched the mailing list archives for "unexpected
network error", I've searched Google for "samba
unexpected network error", and been unable to find
anything. If there's another source of information
that I should check, I'd greatly appreciate a pointer.

Why is Win98 looking for user "nobody"?
Using Samba v2.0.10 on a RedHat v7.1 box, I see that the Win98 clients on
our network are making sporatic requests for user "nobody" (as shown
below). Anyone know what's going on here?
My network has both Linux and Win98 clients, but only the Win98 clients are
showing this behavior. Both the Linux and Win98 clients access the same
shared drives, but only the Win98 clients use

TE410P card in an HP-Compaq DL380 G4 server
Hi,
Has anyone had success using a TE410P card in an HP-Compaq DL380 G4
server?
For me the card is detected fine, but the system just never sees an
interrupt from the card. I've tried everything I can think of. The card
definitely works.
Its Fedora Core, but we also tried a stock 2.6.10 kernel. We tried with
and without Hyperthreading, with "noapic", we disabled all the

preferences in used Compaq Proliant DL380 G1 vrs DL380 G2 etc
greetings,
for those of you in the know, may i have some assistance in helping to make
better decisions in purchasing more used server toys to install CentOS on
please? :-)
in the Compaq Proliant Rackmount DL380 line, the one that looks like the
older 1850R is called a G1 meaning Generation 1 right?
and then the DL380 G2 is a redesign that is gray and just has 6 drive bays
up front correct?

I'm looking at ordering a server from HP. I checked around on Google
and found in the Wiki that the ProLiant DL380 is supposed to be known
to work with *.
I'm going to get a price quote on the following setup:

Anyone running Xen on HP DL380 G5? Intel 5150 and 5160 CPU''s?
I''ve got a client demanding the use of HP DL380 G5''s, for various
historical reasons, for a server room. I''m going nuts trying to figure
out if the available CPU''s for them support VT, so I can avoid building
them a separate Windows box.
Unfortunately, the local web proxy is overloaded, so actually browsing

I've just received my new 6400 (T7400, 2GB, 160GB, Vista Home Premium)
and I'd like to install CentOS 5 too. With big surprise (looking at the
partition table first and then, googling,

The list at http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/HVM_Compatible_Processors

problems, or is the wiki just not up to date?

HP ProLiant DL380 G5
I have CentOS 6.x installed on a "HP ProLiant DL380 G5" server. It
has eight 750GB drives in a hardware RAID6 array. Its acting as a
host for a number of OpenVZ containers.
Seems like every time I reboot this server which is not very often it
sits for hours running a disk check or something on boot. The server
is located 200+ miles away so its not very convenient to look at. Is

UDMA2.SYS author now worked around it, it seems you do something with "DPTE" in isolinux.asm but not using it (probably for memdisk or direct floppy/harddisk emulation?).
also something about EDD v1.1 and v3.0 specifications and setting bits to 1.
Anyway, the driver works now on:
