WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi,
Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with
winbind. For me
the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has
a realy
good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions
from NT/W2k
PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS.
Mayby the
ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support.
I have had

Magic Number Error Message
Hi all,
When I attempt to run a script, I keep getting the error message shown
below. I have seen from searching that the "Use of save versions prior to 2
is deprecated" could be an error resulting from a permissions problem, but I
have been unable to find anything describing the "file has magnic number '#
Coh'". The file I am attempting to read into the script is a

FW: WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Thanks Mikko - pieced the 3 links you sent and got new configs...
Well..I have successfully got the PAM files so NT users can login from the
terminal as well as through the samba shares (no local users required),
including using the NT groups to provide share level permissions.
Now here is the next battle:
1. I can not access the shares using the linux local accounts

redoing error causes backup file failure on target
It looks like rsync 2.5.4 vs 26 has a bug when the target file is backed
up with a suffix. For a large 1 GB file transfer, an error "redoing"
appeared in the debug. In other words, when you see redoing in your debug
expect the backup not to have worked correctly. I didn't see this problem

"old" rpm version package handling broken!? (SuSE8)
Hi!
Using (among others) the pretty old SuSE8.1, I cant get puppet to
install packages.
The rpm programms bahaviour was changed somewhen between versions 3 and
4 (sry, donĀ“t know exactly when) and the old version does not support
the "--nosignature" and "--nodigest" params and "--oldpackage" is purely
an update parameter so when trying to install a package I

Could not create PID file error when .svn directory exists.
Getting some strange behavior when I try and start the puppetmaster.
I keep my configs in a subversion repository so naturally there
are .svn directories within the puppet config directory.
Not sure why but one of my puppetmaster instances refuses to start
until I remove one specific .svn directory.
No puppet process running.

Newbie to 3.0.1 and having problems
I have just upgraded from samba 2.2.7a to 3.0.1. For this upgrade I backed up my old
samba installation, installed the new configuration and copied over the contents of
the private directory which was secrets.tdb and smbpasswd. I ran testparm and
everything seemed fine so I run samba and H drives come back up perfectly.
I think I have 3 issues:

I noticed in /var/adm/messages that entries

Hallo,
I installed nut 2.0.4 on a Solaris 8 and tried two things:
First I wanted the ups to connect via usb, but I could not compile the
usb drivers. Make usb told me: no target named usb found
Second, because both ups and host have serial ports I tried to get it
working with serial.
The driver starts very fine, but takes a long time to detect the ups.
Upsd starts too, but while get in

Sol 10 x86_64 intermittent SATA device locks up server
Hello All,
I have an issue where I have two SATA cards with 5 drives each in one
zfs pool. The issue is one of the devices has been intermittently
failing. The problem is that the entire box seems to lock up on
occasion when this happens. I currently have the SATA cable to that
device disconnected in the hopes that the box will at least stay up for
now. This is a new build that I am
