samba 4.1 roaming profiles
I'm configuring a new samba 4.1 server with NT4 style domain. I've copied
most of the configuration from our working 3.6 server, making some changes
as needed for the newer samba version. So far, I have been unable to get
roaming profiles to work. It seems like the users cannot write in the
profiles directory, but I don't see why not.

Profile creation
SAMBA VERSION: 2.2.4
ERROR(S): Profile Creation
I have recently been assigned to create a Samba PDC. Earlier in the
week, I thought I was successful. I was able to log in, load (or create)
the test user's .ntprofile, etc. Went home that night, happy as could be.
Came back the next day - and nothing was working correctly. The systems
could not find the domain. The domain was not

Samba + OS/2 LS read error
Hello!
We have Samba 3.0.7 on FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE, installed from FreeBSD
ports as server.
There is PC with OS/2 Warp Server for E-Business ("Aurora") in our LAN,
it uses shared resourses from Samba.
Problem: while OS/2 PC archives directories from network drives (from
Samba) archivation freezes on random file about a minute, and then
breaks with "Read error". The same

w2k/XP won't join samba pdc
Hi
I'm sure this must have come up before - if so I apologise.
I have googled, read HOWTOs FAQ and numerous personal accounts on how to
configure samba as a PDC but to no avail - neither w2k nor XP will join the
domain. NT4 Workstation and Win9x I have working fine - where have I gone
wrong ?

Roaming Profiles with Samba PDC
I have been working on this problem for quite some time now and have not been able to find the solution.
I have Samba running on Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) as a primary domain controller. From my Windows 2000 desktop I am able to browse that Linux server with Windows Explorer.
My biggest problem is trying to log in to that domain. Under Windows 2000 I am able to join the domain (sjmlinux) but

No Admin-Rights in SMB-PDC-Domain
Hello,
I've build a domain with Samba 3.0.23 and sucessfully joined this domain
with a Windows-XP-Machine. I can log in to that machine as User "Root",
wich is in the Group "Domain Admins" (rid=512). But I have no
admin-rights on that machine.
Also, normal User can not log in over the Remotesession (RDP).
Can anybody help me to figure out why?

network printers
Hi,
I've configured Samba as PDC. It is to serve Windows 98/2000/XP workstations.
Firstly everything works fine but with adding new users to the domain there
occurs serious trouble. The network printers begin to refuse access. And then
I noticed that the workstations begin to refuse access too.

Samba PDC and MSN Messenger
Hello,
I run a Samba 2.2.3a server with XP clients successfully. I am aware of the
fact that XP
restricts access to some of its users (local) in regards to some programs. I am
unsure which
programs these are but MSN Messenger might be one of them. I think I heard
guest users are
not allowed to use MSN Messenger under XP by default.
Now I have trouble to get MSN Messenger to start under XP for

The server has been running fine. We are now experiencing two problems which according
to the client occured overnight.
The first problem started about a week and a half ago when they found that when trying

samba 4.1 roaming profiles
Dear Mark,
It looks like you are trying to do the same as I did. Did you read the
thread I had some days ago with subject "How to copy roaming profiles to
new server ? ("Group policy client service failed. The logon access is
denied")" ?
This could help you.
Other suggestions :
Not sure if [profiles.V2] is still required but maybe you should try to
add it ?

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles.
Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming
profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers.
The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some
people.
The error given takes place during the loading profile stage:
Windows can not copy:
