netlogon problems
Hi @ all, I have two samba-servers running perfectly! Now I configured a third machine which provides some backups. Since I brought it up in the network the windows client won't execute the netlogon-scripts... When I turn off samba-services on the backup-machine it works again. Did I miss something??? Maybe you can open my eyes... Best regards Sascha Here my conf-files: PDC

access users homes share
hey list, we are currently migrating our users from novell to samba. now we have one problem: in novell we could give e.g. user1 access to users2 home share so he could modify, delete or add files on this share. in samba we defined a global homes share that is mapped on logon. so how can we give user1 the needed rights? here is the definition of the homes share in smb.conf: [homes]

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Maarten, Yes, I'm behind ADSL with PPPoE but I don't think it is related with my case. When my client disconnects from IceCast server for 15-20 seconds, my active downloads are not interrupted. It currently effects only the route to my IceCast server, other routes looks uneffected. I'm pinging IceCast server continuously and checking trace route periodically. It is comething like:

Actually my IP is static, My ISP is changing the route (my path to IceCast server). It takes more than 10 seconds to recover also I'm loosing the connection. repeater
Hi all there. I am trying to set up an icecast2 server (wich is already running) to send some stream mount point to another server. I mean, my server is streaming at /radio1.mp3 mount point. We can listen it at http://myserver:8000/radio1.mp3; so, i want to know if is there any way to "clone" that strem and send it to another server, such as http://giss.tv:8000/radio1.mp3 Thanks. --

Hi, i've tried to configure samba 2.2.7 + winbind on a Mandrake 9.0 linux system, and all work fine, but i've only a problem: when i connect with any Windows XP Client the system ask to me the Username/password (the computer is in a NT 4 domain) and in the syslog i can see this line: rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:cli_net_sam_logon_internal(406) cli_net_sam_logon_internal:

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Tom, You might be right, but I don't get why my existing downloads (I guess they are on different routes) are not affected. If my ADLS provider is doing some IP adjustments (btw my IP is static) I expect everything to disconnect, not only my icecast connection. So I'll monitor my USRobotics logs today and tomorrow so see if there is something strange. Regards, On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at

change password failed
I have configured samba as a PDC for our lab. I wish that users can change their password on any windows client machine of this domain. Now the users can logon to the domain on windows client machine, but when they press Ctrl+Alt+Del to change their domain password, the operation failed. Checking samba's log file, I found that 'auth 1 type failed'. I don't know what this meanes.

samba/network performance
Hi list, we're having some problems with our Samba Server based on Debian Eth with Samba version 3.0.24. When a user copies a file to a share the performance is just about 10-15 MBits/s. Doesn't matter what OS the client uses. The server itself has a 1 G connection. Both are directly connected to the switch so there couldn't be a buggy cable/box between them. When i measure the speed

Opening files issue.
Hi all. I've looked, and I do recall a posting from earlier addressing this, but I can't get the right combo of key-words to google up the solution. If I open a file (say a .doc) from windows explorer, the program launches and that file loads quickly. If I use the open dialogue from the application, the file loads slowly. Looking in performnce monitor I see that if I load the file from

Hello list, probably a known issue (but I haven't found a link yet): I'm using 3.0.2a with 'unix charset = ISO8859-15' and get the following then a file with ticks is created: - desired: "???????`'??" - displayed: "???????`'??" ^^^ The euro sign is created correctly in a file name. The filename will be displayed in the filesystem
