different logon scripts and mappings for individual users
i'm not sure how to create different logon scripts for different users. right now i have one logon script called 'logon.bat' that maps all users to a server share and syncs the time with the server. i need to be able to map different users to different server shares. not all users should be mapped to all server shares. these should be automatic mappings. for example: user1 should

roaming user profiles do not transfer all settings - *SOLVED*
the reason why the wallpaper was not following the roaming profile is because i was not using bitmaps... check out this post: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2005-November/114588.html i am also quoting the last sentence on this web page: http://computertips.toups.info/roaming/RoamingXPPro.htm "There appears to be a problem where .jpg wallpaper does not appear to roam properly.

Samba Roaming Profiles
Hi, This is my first messegge to the list. I need to migrate a Windows 2000 Server PDC to a Linux/Samba, and I readed a lot searching for an answer. My problem is with Roaming Profiles. The user can log on but the configuration isn't the correctly one. The wallpaper, the mail storge, the shortcuts, etc. are wrong. May be is the ntuser.dat file that don?t work well. What can I do?

Losing wallpapers on roaming profiles
Hi! I'm getting difficulties with wallpapers on roaming profiles on a samba 3.0.9-2.3 under SuSE 9.2 with Windows XP Professional Clients. I discovered, by reading other postings concerning this topic, that Windows won't use jpegs as wallpapers on roaming profiles (converts them to bmp and stores them in "Local Settings", which doesn't roam). So I converted the pictures

Roaming Profiles Annoyances
Hello, I've finally managed to get roaming profiles working (kindof). However some issues (after lots of googling) remain unresolved. Here's a summary of what I've done to date: 1) Setup samba shares according to gentoo-wiki.org <http://gentoo-wiki.org>(there were some problems with permissions etc after that but they're ok now) 2) Edited NTUSER of a foobar user account

Problem with Roaming Profiles
Hi, This is driving me nuts!! Ok, this is a home network, so not many machines! I HAD 1 windows XP machine with local profiles for everyone - worked fine. I have now installed a linux box with SAMBA on it and I have 3 desktop PCs. I have set up roaming profiles (I think) correctly according to the How-To book. I initially had some trouble getting the local profiels moved to the server, but I

Roaming profiles
I want to setup a linux box with samba as a file and print server for a LAN of 20 NT 4.0 SP3 workstations. I want the home direcotories to be on the server the clients to have roaming profiles. For this, do I have to make the linux box a domain controller? I want to avoid it if I can, because the domain control code in not on the production releases. I don't want to setup an NT server either.

Roaming Profiles:Samba PDC:WinXP:User must be local admin
I'm having a problem with Roaming profiles in Windows XP with Samba as PDC. I've googled and trolled the mailing lists and read the Samba documentation. Problem: User logs onto domain from WinXP client and profile is downloaded (you can tell because it takes a long time and lights on hub are lit up). However, unless that user is in the admin group locally, all/some of the profile

Roaming profiles on a small network
Hi list, I intend to run an old pentium 133 as a linux-based fileserver on my home network (I have to use windows for my main machine and laptop!) Im having great diffiuculty synching the data, email, etc on my laptop and desktop, so I thought I might configure samba to act as a DC and use roaming profiles to make sure that my data is always synched. My question is this: is it worth the effort?

Roaming Profiles + Win2000 + XP
Hi, Ive got my PDC up and running under samba, it is serving several windows 2000 machines and a windows XP machine. The problem is when using Roaming Profiles....... Were using Outlook XP + IMAP Mail for the users emails, which works fine.... the only problem comes when logging off the machine and back to another. The windows 2000 machines seem to update the profile changes back to the server.

Roaming profiles problem
Hey all, I've got a few WinXP workstations logging into a 2.2.4pre (CVS from April 30th, around 8 p.m. PDT) PDC, and I'm having some sort of odd problem with roaming profiles. The XP workstations can successfully (it seems) retrieve and save thier profiles to the samba box; however, if I log off a user, say "gary", from one workstation, and travel to the next one, and log in
