[3.0.28a] Telling XP to save password?
Hello
We're successfully running Samba 3.0.28a on a FreeBSD server and
sharing files with XP clients. There's only one problem: By default,
XP doesn't let the user save the password, so they have to type it
every time they reboot.
Is there a way to tell XP to remember the password between
reboots/sessions?
Thank you.

Corrupted ntprinters.tdb
Hi,
we are experiencing periodic problems with our samba/cups setup:
It seems like workstations which are locked but where users with the
SePrintOperatorPrivilege are logged on destroy the ntprinters.tdb.
This always takes place when the logrotate on the sambaserver runs the
postrotatescript and restarts cups while the client is doing whatever it
has to do.
/var/log/messages says:

Samba 4.1.4 fails to recognize "load printers = NO"
My log files are full of crap about cups errors, despite smb4.conf
explicitly stating not to load printers, and stating not to use cups in any
case.

error messages
I have a brand new in stall of samba4 on a FreeBSD 10 machine and I am
getting these messages on the console practically all the time.
I have actually disabled load printer list in globals but it does not
seem to make any difference, I am not intending to use it as a
printserver at all, just for files, it is to replace a system which is
quite old and running out of space

printing = cups issue ....
Using samba 3.4.9 and cups 1.4.3
I have "printing = cups", but for some reason samba is not picking up the cups printers or creating the printers share.
The problem is obviously this, from the samba logs:

Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused

Hi,
Hope can someone give insights or what to do next, regarding with issue
encountered regarding with the upgrade of Samba3 to Samba4 NT4-style
domain with OpenLDAP backend.
It seems the upgrade went well as I could join the domain on the Windows 7
workstations, except adding still the registry mentioned on the link:

Feedback on Linksys SPA-921 and GrandStream GXP-2000
Hello
I'm about to order a GrandStream GXP-2000 and a Linksys SPA-921
I'd like to have some user feedback about how those phones perform, and
whether their LCD screen displays both the caller ID name and number (The
GrandStream BT-100 only displays numbers, which isn't very helpful).
Thank you.

OpenVox A400P01on thin client?
Hello,
I'm thinking of ordering an OpenVox A400P01 (A400P + 1 PORT FXO Bundle)
for use in a old IBM 8364 thin client:
http://www.openvox.com.cn/products_detail.php?genre_id=9&id=28
http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/software/netstation-8364/
Has someone already used this hardware with Asterisk, especially on a small
piece of hardware like this, and could offer some feedback?
Thank you.

One account can access samba, another can't.
My wife and I each have our own workstation dual-booting WinXP and
Gentoo Linux. We also have a third which runs Gentoo all the time. I
wanted to set up samba on the third box and provide some extra storage
space for both our Windows installs. It worked for a few days, then all
of a sudden it stopped letting my account (michael) in while still
letting my wife's account (amy) use the share.

FreeBSD 6.2 fresh install samba 3.3.7 problems
Hello,
I've port installed 3.3.7 samba onto the box and was trying to start samba
server through '/usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba' with no success (server wouldn't
start at all). I've tried running '/usr/local/bin/smdb -D' and server
started for few moments before it died.
Below are configuration files and log dump with the dump error. What am I
doing wrong?

Cannot login to PDC(FreeBSD boxen) from client(win XP)
I'm finally getting somewhere in setting up my FreeBSD PDC. I try and
login via my XP client and now it gives me this odd message. "Cannot
login because a duplicate user already exists on the network. Please
goto control panel and system and change your computer name." Sorta
paraphrased there, perhaps off by a word or two but that's pretty much
what it tells me. I'm just

[3.4.7] Right way to provide full access?
Hello
I'd like to configure Samba on a test host running Ubuntu so that I
have full read/write access from XP to a sub-directory of the root
filesystem.
The host is located on a LAN behind a firewall, so security is not an
issue, ie. I'd like to configure Samba with no/minimal security.
Currently, I can read but can't write. Between /etc/passwd, smb.conf,
and access rights to the

Force user doesn't work
I am using Samba 3.6.6 on Debian Wheezy.
I want to be able to change www files on my dev server using my macbook.
So I setup samba and made a share for the /var/www directory.
I added the users bart & root to samba to connect. And connect using command K and then smb://192.168.2.100 (my samba server).
As apache uses www-data as a user and group for the www files I use force user and
