Mount options and NFS: just checking...
Greetings -
I'm now in the last couple of weeks before going live with Dovecot
(v1.0.3) on our revamped IMAP service. I'd like to double-check
about the best mount options to use; could someone advise, please?
I have three separate directory trees for the message store, the
control files and the index files. These are arranged as follows:

Sharing an NFS mount via samba
Hi,
>From what i understand sharing an NFS mount via samba is not a good idea.
Is the any way to make this work with strict locks = yes ?
The NFS mount is on a NetApp filer, I cannot create users on the Netapp.
therefore mounting via NFS allows me create users on a Linux machine.
and manage the access to data.
Any advice to maintain the data integrity would be helpful

Moving IMAP folders to NFS volume.
Hello
Due to lack of disk space on local disks I need to move all
our imap folders to a NFS volume ( NetAPP filer )
I have a question about Dovecot indexes , is it better to
remove all of them before copying folders to the NFS volume
and let Dovecot rebuild all indexes when users restart to
access to their imap folders ?
Thanks a lot.

Writing to a ReExported NFS Share With A MAC
I ran into this problem and was unable to find a solution here or in
google. Thought I'd post it to the list so maybe it'll help someone out in
the future.
Gentoo Linux running 2.4.22 and Samba 2.2.8a. ReExporting an NFS mounted
share on a NetAPP fileserver connected to eth1 via samba out eth0. All PCs
are able to write fine but when writing to the share via a mac using OSX

An 'orrible question: Outlook 365 under wine on CentOS?
Either CentOS 6 or 7 - anyone know if it's possible?
Upper Management has decided on a policy that IMAP is going to go away in
the near future, and they want everyone on Lookout, sorry, Outlook 365.

NFS performance on CentOS 7
I am setting up a file server with CentOS 7. I'm seeing
performance which is considerably slower than a similar
server running CentOS 6.6. A 3Gb directory can be copied
to/from the CentOS 6.6 server in about 50 seconds. The
same directory takes about 270 seconds to copy to/from
the CentOS 7 system.
I see the same performance difference with NFS mounted
file systems or using scp, so it

Excessive NFS operations
Reading the "waiting IOs" thread made me remember I have a similar problem
that has been here for months, and I have no sulution yet.
A single CentOS 5.2 x86_64 machine here is overloading our NetApp filer with
excessive NFS getattr, lookup and access operations. The weird thing is that
the number of these operations increases over time. I have an mrtg graph

File system permissions - setgid bit and Netapp NFS volumes
Greetings Dovecot List,
I have a bit of an edge case I am trying to resolve. I am currently
using dovecot on Ubuntu 14.04 - Ubuntu package version:
1:2.2.9-1ubuntu2.3
I have attached the output of doveconf -n to this email - but to
describe the configuration in a nutshell:
my server is configured to use Maildir storage
I do not use dovecot delivery service (there is a separate

Migrate from an NFS storage to GlusterFS
Hi -
I already have an NFS server in production which shares Web data for a
4-node Apache cluster. I'd like to switch to GlusterFS.
Do I have to copy the files from the NFS storage to a GlusterFS one, or
may it work if I just install GlusterFS on that server, configuring a
GFS volume to the existing storage directory (assuming, of course, the
NFS server is shuuted down and not used

Re-exporting CIFS file systems
Is there a way to force the Samba server to ignore
mounted CIFS file systems? I can't see anything
in the smb.conf documetation to do this generally.

mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /blah busy
How do I go about troubeshooting this? I'm using RHEL 4 update 6.
mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /blah busy
It's actually an iSCSI LUN (NetApp filer). I successfully configured (ext3) and mounted it, but when I rebooted, the /dev/sdb1 device/partition is seen by the kernel and it shows up with "fdisk -l".
Nevertheless I get that error. I've tried

Samba and NFS locking on Netapp filers ?
Hello
I have troubles with some shares that are NFS mounted to a Netapp
filer, if I enable locking on that share, the file cannot be opened
by the windows client in write mode ( read only after a looong time )
Anyone has the same problem , it seems to be a Netapp bug but
they do not support samba at all :-) so I don't expect any answer
from them.
thanks

mongrel updates?
Hello Zed,
I was just wondering if there were any roadmap/changes coming for
Mongrel in the future. Are there any plans to put the attachment
parsing code back in, or just anything else to be on the lookout for?
Honestly everything''s been working fine for me, so I shouldn''t care,
but I''m one of those guys who loves new toys every few months.
Thanks for making my job

An 'orrible question: Outlook 365 under wine on CentOS?
The only linux-based client that, if I recall, can speak native MS mail
protocols, was Evolution.
I don't know if it still does.

observations/qestions of mbox concurrency ability (Yay!) on current CVS
Hi, all.
Just been testing out the latest "CVS" (in quotes because I'm rsyncing
the source
tree) versions of Dovecot lately.
Tested having Pine on the machine on which Dovecot was running, talking
IMAP, as well as another Pine instance, this time from my Windows machine
over the wire. Things seem to be working wonderfully. Deleted a message
using one instance, then refreshed the

SAM program and R mirror - which port to open?
To whom this may concern,
I am having issues installing a program called "SAM" (Statistical Analysis of Microarrays) which is an excel add in and requires the use of R. Due to the firewall at my hospital, R cannot connect to a mirror and therefore cannot install necessary files for the complete installation of SAM. The IT department has asked me which "port" needs to be opened
