openldap - samba
I am having a problem getting users that were added in smbldap-useradd to be
able to login.
After I add them they are visible, but you can see I get this error -
pdb_get_group_sid:
Failed to find Unix account for test10
I believe that this has something to do with nss_ldap. because doing a
getent passwd, it doesn't display any smb info.
Any debugging info or help would be amazing, I'm

machine being dropped from ads
I've noticed this happening quite often, my server after a while gets
dropped from the domain controller. I join it like this...
net ads join -U samba@CORPEDIA.INTERNAL -S windowsserver.corpeda.internal
I came in this morning and noticed that I could not login to my shares, so I
did a net ads info. and it came back with could not find any login servers.
I re-ran the above command, and

I am trying to map existing users to their old home folders (moved over from
a windows box), I have authentication up and running great. And I have all
my shares setup and working except for the users home folders. Does this
look like a local permission issue? Any help is much appreciated, and thank
you in advance for taking the time to read.

Hello,
I have a Samba 3.0.11/LDAP-Backend PDC configured and I am able to join
all kinds of machines quite well. However my Samba 2.2.12 Linux

Unable to upload printer drivers
Hai,
Sorry for the slow reaction here. I was few days out of the office.
But can you try the universal 2 driver. That one works fine for me.
And if you send me the exact driver your trying to me, i'll test that one in my setup.
Greetz,
Louis

Unable to upload printer drivers
Hai Manu,
Can you post the output of:
getfacl /var/lib/samba/printers
And
getfacl /var/lib/samba/printers/x64
And run
net rpc rights list accounts -Uadministrator
These are often forgotten or wrong set.

Problem adding user to Administrator list
Hi, all,
We are using Samba 3.0.10 with an LDAP backend.
It's been working fine for a long time.
One strange thing that has come up today : I cannot add 1 specific domain
user to the local Administrator group of Windows servers that are also in
the domain.
Adding the user to the admin group on a workstation works just fine.
Adding other users to the admin group on the Windows servers

"ldap passwd sync" not working
Hi.
I've samba-3.0.11 now, installed from rpm on Redhat 9.0. Problem was
with 3.0.10 too. I don't exactly know when it was broken, because I
found it week ago.
I've samba as PDC with LDAP backend some time ago when user changes
password in windows or when password chenged with smbpasswd - LDAP
password of this user was changed too. Now LDAP passwords remains the
same as it was.

Too much init_sam_from_ldap...
Hi !
I'm working in a educational administration, i've made a domain with
a Samba 3.4.1 PDC with a LDAP backend. When a user log into an XP
Workstation, i see in the log file a lot of "init_sam_from_ldap". In
fact, instead of scanning only the user who try to connect, a lot of
them are scanned. I've got about 600 account into the LDAP so the time

[Follow-UP] samba BDC + LDAP slave Referral errors
hi,
i see the same error message with samba 3.0.14a and OpenLDAP 2.2.23
(Debian Packages) with Master/Slave setup.
i did not set up a referral to the master, so why does samba get a
referral when attempting to write to a slave? is this an in-build samba
feature? do i have to enable referrals to get this to work properly?
any advise is appreciated!
thx!

Unable to open a particular share.
Hello everybody,
we have a strange behaviour since a BDC was rebooted.
We have an infrastructure were one big Samba server is defined as a PDC,
and a few others servers are defined as BDC. This infrastructure is
deployed in a school, so we have the PDC and one BDC for each section of
the school (college, elementary school ...). Most of the clients
computers are Windows XP, and the servers
