Difficulty implementing "scales" in a lattice plot
Hello all, I am rather new to lattice and have a simple question regarding formatting text labels on the axes. I have looked through my own archive on lattice notes, searched and examined 30 or so hits on Dr. Baron's search site, looked through my MASS book, my Data Analysis and Graphics Using R book, R news articles, and I have in my hand the lattice package instructions and have read and

normality tests
Hi all, apologies for seeking advice on a general stats question. I ve run normality tests using 8 different methods: - Lilliefors - Shapiro-Wilk - Robust Jarque Bera - Jarque Bera - Anderson-Darling - Pearson chi-square - Cramer-von Mises - Shapiro-Francia All show that the null hypothesis that the data come from a normal distro cannot be rejected. Great. However, I don't think it looks

Muchas gracias, Manuel

Royston's V' and v' functions
Dear R-list readers: Royston described the effect of sample size on the p-value obtained from the Shapiro-Francia test (Estimating departure from normality. Stat Med 1991;10:1283-93). He developed two indices from the Shapiro-Francia test (i) V' - an index of departure from normality and (ii) v' - a plot of the cumulative squared residuals. He mentioned the availability (in

error in optim: initial value in 'vmmin' is not finite
Dear r-helpers, I'm experiencing some problems in fitting a maximum likelihood binomial model to some of my data. The error is in optim, which founds: Error in optim(par = c(0.2, 0.5), fn = function (p) : initial value in 'vmmin' is not finite Yes, I know it's a common problem, and I've carefully searched and readed all the posts about the issue, But, I can't find a

normality tests [Broadcast]
The normality of the residuals is important in the inference procedures for the classical linear regression model, and normality is very important in correlation analysis (second moment)... Washington S. Silva > Thank you all for your replies.... they have been more useful... well > in my case I have chosen to do some parametric tests (more precisely > correlation and linear regressions

Cramer-von Mises normality test
Hi, this is my first help request so please bear with me. I've been running some normality tests using the nortest package. For some of my datasets the Cramer-von Mises normality test generates an extremely high probability (e.g., 1.637e+31) and indicates normality when the other tests do not. Is there something I'm misunderstanding or potentially a bug in the code? Below are the

Bug in nortest cvm.test package (PR#8980)
I believe there to be a bug in the cvm.test module of the nortest package authored by Juergen Gross. I do not know how to contact the author directly. I've been running some normality tests using the nortest package. For some of my datasets the Cramer-von Mises normality test generates an extremely high probability (e.g., 1.637e+31) and indicates normality when the other tests do

HABTM checkboxes insert but don't delete
I have a problem related with the HABTM relationships with checkboxes. I''ve got a profile and a service model, both related with has_and_belongs_to_many. The problem is that i can insert new data in the profiles_services table, however, i cant delete already existing data. What could be the problem? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message

Kolmogorov-Smirnof test for lognormal distribution with estimated parameters
Hello all, Would somebody be kind enough to show me how to do a KS test in R for a lognormal distribution with ESTIMATED parameters. The R function ks.test()says "the parameters specified must be prespecified and not estimated from the data" Is there a way to correct this when one uses estimated data? Hmisc: Using stratified weighted means (wtd.mean) within a function
Hello list, I have the following function which, as you can see, uses mean: meanratings <- round(apply(stack03[,c(102:121)],2,function(x) (tapply(x ,actcode, mean, na.rm=T))), digits=1) The above function yields the following output: q27a q27b q27c q27d q27e q27f q27g q27h q27i q27j q27k q27l q27m q27o q27p 1 7.8 8.1 7.7 7.9 7.9 NaN NaN 8.4 7.8 7.0 7.6 NaN NaN 7.1 6.0 2

Normal tests disagree?
If I have data that I feed into shapio.test and jarque.bera.test yet they seem to disagree. What do I use for a decision? For my data set I have p.value of 0.05496421 returned from the shapiro.test and 0.882027 returned from the jarque.bera.test. I have included the data set below. Thank you. Asterisk success stories in small-medium office environments?
I am the network administrator at a small (20-30 employee) financial company. We are in the process of moving offices and will be obtaining a VoIP phone system when we do. Right now, it's down to the 3com nbx100 series and *. Having lurked on *-user for a few weeks and having seen the nifty features of asterisk, I'm convinced. The price difference has pretty much sold my superiors.

Asterisk success stories in small-mediumoffice environments?
I'm not really looking for working configurations as much as I am looking for people who can say "This is a solid product and I trust my business to a solution running Asterisk." As far as pre-sales work... Well, tell that to my consultant. I'm quite excited about *. I've got my company sold on it, they just want some reassurance that it's ready for prime-time

Tinc on MacOs X
My intention is to set up tinc so that I can connect from home to an office network. All CPUs are running MacOs X, 10.2.8 or 10.3.5. I have read the tinc manual, tincd.8 and tinc.conf.5. However, I am still unclear about a few issues. First and foremost, how to I setup the VPN interfaces on the hosts, on MacOs X? Which file do I have to alter and what is the exact syntax on Os X to setup

FW: Seamless Multi Office Asterisk Deployment
Hello I have a brief and a long question about a possible Asterisk deployment I am planning. Long Story Short: I have four total offices, one main and three remote. All offices are connected using dedicated network T1 lines creating one unified network across offices. I would like to know if it is possible to set up an Asterisk system with the following capabilities: - Branch

Multi office samba domains
Hi all! I've a computer acting as a PDC in a network with Samba+OpenLDAP working fairly well ina Debian Sarge for several months (Samba servers, XP cients). It's working so well that my company wants to deploy this system to all the offices (five offices physically separated). Each office has it's own peculiarities so each one has to have it's own domain with shares and so on.

Asterisk distributed deployment
Hello all, I post this issue thinking too that could help other people on an asterisk deployment over distributed offices considering both quality, prices, devices and so. Well, i am working on a deployment of a telephony system based in asterisk. My company have a central office with seven remote offices connected all through a VPN. To reduce and evaluate costs i consider solutions like:
