Suddenly one printer stops to print
Hi all,
I'm still a young man having trouble with his fresh new Samba 3 setup.
I've got another small issue with Samba.
Our Samba 3.0.2-2 (Debian Sarge) is acting as a PDC, but also hosts a few
printers shares, with cups.
Suddenly today only ONE of our printers stopped to work.
From an XP Pro SP1 Client, we cannot print anymore.
An attempt to print a test page fails, and here is what

printing problem:Error = No space left on device
Hi,

I'm trying to fix the printing problem in Samba 3.0.2a on Solaris 9:
When I printed a file via Samba, I got the message

I have checked all the file systems and all are OK.

allocate_print_jobid: failed to allocate a print job for queue lbrmgt
We have recently migrated from a package called Totalnet to Samba to
replace our file and print services. File services are working great.
>From time to time we get a call that printing stops working.
I have found a post stating that it may be a file space issue. After
checking, our file systems have plenty of extra space in them and have
never filled up yet.
Our current fix for this is to

Issue with two domains in one LDAP tree
Hi,
I've just moved a second Samba domain to LDAP -- it works great! However, the
first domain is now dead in the water. It refuses to autenticate, and from
the logs it looks like it's not find the SambaDomainName entry in the LDAP
tree. Here is a diagram of how my LDAP tree is set up.

Samba / cups problem
Hi all,
I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can
print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and
yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L
output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info:

Strange Behavior using FUSE client
I've recently setup a distributed/replicated cluster and have had an issue
with seeing the directories on the cluster. Also, a df -h only shows data
from one of the three bricks.

The strange behavior doesn't end there. If I log into the 'primary' server
as root, then do an ls on the client, the directories appear. However, df -h
is still incorrect.

I'm not sure exactly

mount.cifs permissions for non-root user via sudo
I'm not sure this is the proper forum to post to, but I hope someone can point me in the right direction if not have the answers. We have a RedHat Enterprise 5 AS machine, fully patched, with the most recent samba RPMs installed. The machine is joined to Active Directory via a 3rd party program called Centrify. An AD user, when logged into this system, is given permission to run /bin/mount via

[LLVMdev] [Oink-devel] Elsa and LLVM
Wow! Cool!
Hey, if you sign my contributor agreement, we can consider making your
Elsa/LLVM compiler an Oink tool. Scott's intention is for Elsa to be
basically "done": that is, aside from bug fixes, it shouldn't have
more features. Oink is basically a bucket into which to throw tools
like this one that use Elsa as a front-end.

Windows ACL (beaten to death I know)
I've been ignoring the ACL issue because I have yet to get it to work. But
now I am curious. I log in as root and create a text file in root's home
directory. I look in the security properties and verify that the file is
indeed owned by root. In Linux, the permissions of the file are 750, root
owner, root group.
In Windows, I try to add a user with read permissions. I get

FW: ZFS disk size report
Hi,

It would be great help to understand the how the actually allocated disk
space keeps getting reduced as shown below (I understand different
filesystem/volume management implementation would have different logic
to set aside some space reserved for meta-data etc). If the following
can be explained it would really help.

I allocated 80*25G luns to a solaris server (clariion luns). (80*25

Printing permissions problem
OK, I just took my first non-root user live on my Samba 3.0.7 system.
Printing is via cups, with drivers stored in the print$ share. This user is
a local power user. She can add printers, or root can add them. Root can
also print from them. If this user tries to print anything (a test page
even) she gets a non-verbose error that looks like a permissions error. She
can view the queues

Problems with the IdealX scripts
Not sure if this is where I should ask about this, but if I try to run any of
the smbldap-* scripts, I get the following kind of output:

Using builtin directory structure
erreur LDAP: Can't contact master ldap server (IO::Socket::INET: Bad protocol
'tcp') at /usr/local/sbin//smbldap_tools.pm line 153.

Protocol negotation failed
Hi all,
I've compiled 3.0.7 on a test box which also has an LDAP server running on it.
This is the first time for me trying to use Samba with LDAP. I copied the
IdealX scripts into /usr/local/sbin and edited the _config.pm file. It is
attached at the bottom, stripped of comments. I then edited my smb.conf to
the effect of the following:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost

Group membership
I am using Samba PDC with OpenLDAP2 and smbldap-tools. As part of my
logon.bat, I call a script called ifmember.exe. This script can list out the
groups a user is a member of. It is reporting that my root user is a member
of the group 'engr.' I don't know if this is a bug with ifmember.exe or if
it's an issue in Samba or in LDAP. Here is some relevant data:
