Asterisk at Home ...
Hi all,
I have installed and am happy with A @ H but have one teeny tiny
requirement that it doesn't meet (yet).
I need 4 digit extentions.
How big a deal is it to get A@H to do 4 digit extentions ?

Lastest upgrade of smb on RedHat doesn't work
The latest upgrade of from samba 3.0.9 to samba 3.0.10 has caused
problems on my samba server.
On the Windows computers you can no longer see the WINS server ( the
RedHat server) in the Network Neighborhood, say server1. The
printers that we have added through the network neighborhood no
longer work.
One has to search for the full name of the server
( server1.xxx.xxx.edu) with the

Upgrade problem
Hi,
I am working on the upgrade from 3.0.9-1.3E.14.3 to 3.5.2. Currently, the installation and smbd daemons running. I did not make any changes on smb.conf or smbpasswd. The new version shows up when using smbd -V. However, it still shows the old version when I tried to map a drive on window:
+homes on 'Samba 3.0.9-1.3E.14.3' (O:)
It shows all contents there.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Samba 3.0.9 on RHEL 3.0
All,
Smbpasswd -j DOMAIN is no longer the way to join a Windows domain
instead one needs to use net join. However, net utility, although it's a
part of Samba release, is not present on the system. Samba was installed
using rpm packages. Here is what's on the system:
samba-3.0.9-1.3E.1
samba-common-3.0.9-1.3E.1
samba-swat-3.0.9-1.3E.1
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jarek

Centos 3 samba upgrade
I want to upgrade my samba installation from 3.0.9-1.3E.3 to 3.0.20
without breaking anything along the way :) Any suggestions about order
of installation? It looks like I will have to nodeps at least some of
the packages. I have everything working with our AD environment so I
don't want to disturb it if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Chuck

samba-3.0.9-1.3E.2
I wouldn't normally hurry you guys about a package release, (because you're
doing an excellent job), but any eta on the above?
samba-3.0.9-1.3E.1 is in the current repos and that install seriously fubar'd my
ADS + winbind setup. samba-3.0.9-1.3E.2 (which requires krb5-libs-1.2.7-31)
fixes the problem.
NB, samba-3.0.7-1.3E.1 (the old version) was fine for me, its only this

Fwd: Trying to update samba
Typically, RPM's from RedHat or Fedora are pretty dependent on glibc and
other system libraries. Newer version of RedHat will have newer
versions of glibc, so the official packages are often not compatible
with older versions.
Sernet may have precompiled RPM's that may be useful.

If not you will probably need to compile from source. Or move to a

Re: Cannot map guest shares in 'security = SERVER' mode onsamba-3.0.9
I'm running samba-3.0.9-1.3E.3 and the manpage for smb.conf does not
mention anything about 'map to guest = Bad Uid'.
However I did add the line 'map to guest = Bad Uid' an run 'testparm
/etc/samba/smb.conf'.
No complaines but 'testparm' removes the entire line 'map to guest = Bad
Uid' from the config file.

RedHat+Samba+Winbind to ADS
Hi,
I 've a gateway and I want to use squid authenticated with Windows 2000
Active Directory users.
I've a development platform with Debian/Sarge as gateway, and it works.

On the other side the production platform uses RedHat Enterprise AS3,
initially with Samba 3.0.6 and Kerberos 1.2.7-28. I was not able to use

I recently upgraded a Cisco 7960 to the SIP firmware, it worked fine without
a "call-manager". I just put the SIP firmware and associated config files
in the TFTP directory of my asterisk server so that the phone could pull the
firmware off of my asterisk server via TFTP. It took me about 5 minutes
maximum to get the phone working with SIP through asterisk. NO Call-manager

Urgent RHL Samba problem update
We have Red Hat linux 3.0 ES.
We had samba set up so that it would authenticate against the linux
password file/database. That is the set up we have had here for the past
two years, firstly with RH linux ES 2.1 and now with RH linux ES 3.0.
Our users have Windows XP/2000 PC's, and when they would use the net use
command on their PC (or mount network drives via Windows Explorer) it
