Typo in Samba HOWTO collection example 19.2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
Since the samba-docs mailing list is closed, I figured this was the best
place to post this.
I believe there's a typo in example 19.2 ("Overriding global CUPS
settings for one printer") of the official Samba HOWTO collection. The
"print command" parameter in the [special_printer] section contains
several echo commands,

Samba send SPNEGO if Extended Security is ON
I've checked the samba code (sessetup) and found out that samba always send spnego packet when Extended Security capability is ON.
(This can't be turned off/on ie. "use spnego = false")
Does it mean I can "never" connect to smb server that doesn't support spnego if Extended Security is supported by server?
Is my understanding correct?

Samba-CUPS interface
Hi,
One of our Samba server (4.4.5) is a print server with CUPS backend . In
addition we are using a print management product that is itself a backend
to cups.
Everything works well, except that the document names that are transmitted
in the chain is of the form : "smbprn.00000648 MyDocument.pdf" . I guess
that the prefix smbprn.00000648 is the samba job ID that is concatenated to

printing issues - lprng
Hi,
I am running samba and lprng for 4 hp laserjets. Sometimes a
samba print job goes to the wrong printer. Normally everything works just
fine. Shown below is the lprng acct log file enries for the concerned print
job. Please notice that the print job was supposed to go to hp4050-mail,
but ended up in hp8100. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks

Command line DB reads
Is there a way to get information on a print job from the command line? For
example:
> smb_print_query smbprn.00002.a12345
jobid = pr1000-555
filename = Notepad - sample.txt
owner = dan_thibadeau
machine = mylaptop
size = 1234 bytes
or something like that?
Thanks,

Print Job Names Are Obscure
Hello all,
Is there any way to stuff a more descriptive tag into a print job name?
The jobs we're printing now are of the type: smbprn.003447.sdfasa
I seem to remember a way to put the sending machine's name into the job
name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

not enough charcters available in %J or confusing blanks?
Hi,
I try to create PDF files with an modified script from Buchan Milne and
have some problems with the Jobname var %J.
Because it is better for the users to find an file with an similar name
as the original document I'm looking for a way to read out %J, cut some
unnessasary stuff and use the rest as new file name. The problem is:
In %J in some circumstances is not the complete Jobname as

PDF printing problem - can't find Samba's file?
I'm sure this is something simple, but I can't figure it out.
After a printing system upgrade, my old PDF-writer script (which acted as an
lp input filter) stopped working. I took this as an opportunity to rewrite
it to work straight from Samba. But I'm having an odd problem -- I can't
find Samba's job file. Here's the entry:

Printing problem..
I'm having a little problem with a HP 8550 Laser Color printer shared under samba.
The printer works fine with local prints, I can see the resource printer from Win2k2 explorer.
I install the remote printer in a W2k2 workstation, windows ask me for drivers, and then, I installed them.
The problem is: when I'm triying to access the printer, windows told me:

Hi,
I'm running samba 2.2.1a (RPM install) on RedHat 7.2

I've configured the printer within linux and printing goes fine.
Now I'm trying to access the printer via samba from my win2k clients. Now,
the problem is: When I'm trying to print to the printer (e.g. a testpage) I

Cups print jobnames became SMB jobname not doc name
Since upgrading to Fedora Core 3 the jobname for the files being printed to
our PDF CUPS backend have become the Samba jobname as in
"SMBPRN.888009.hjdcl" instead of the application filename such as "Microsoft
Word - Document1.DOC". This stops us from providing a properly-named PDF
file to our users.
Our other server that is still on Core 1 does not have this problem.

Printer Rights Fail
Hello everyone,
I upgraded my Samba server on my RHL 7.2 box from 2.2.3a to 2.2.7. Almost
immediately afterwards, all of my admin users suddenly were unable to access
the printers that were being shared by Samba. Any idea of what is wrong and
how to fix it? The messages I'm getting are that I do not have enough
rights.
I am using a Windows 2000 Server PDC and a lot of Windows XP Pro, and

Been beating my head with an winbind and pam just behaving oddly. I have following
various HOW-TO's, wiki's, and docs, and just can't seem to get past a wall. Here a
some of the issues:
